Just a quick tip, with the headlight out it gives you enough room to put a catch can beneath the expansion tank to catch the coolant. No need to drain the radiator that way. So no need to jack up the car or extensively bleed the cooling system.

so the hose from the res. to the radiator i believe it goes to (7:09) can i just disconnect that hose to drain just the reservoir so i wouldnt have to refill radiator? Just trying to see fastest way

That's the easiest way to go, my reservoir go hairline cracks in it and I need to replace it on my Ford Figo..

I see the top degas line on coolant tank is very small diameter I have read an article on 2012 to 2014 Fiesta needing to change the size of this hose as it causes that model 1.0litre to overheat Maybe even Cath on fire? My Fiesta 1.0 is always overheating at slow speeds and idle for long periods? I have changed Head Gasket Coolant cap Water Pump Both thermostats Flushed radiator Could it be this hose?

at 4:16 you can pop that retaining clip off so you dont have to stretch the jaws around the tank port and risk breaking the retaining clip

For anyone running an original hose, be prepared to replace it. Mine practically fell to peices and turns out it was the cause of my leak

It does use the same part as the Fiesta and is easier to fit as the Ecosport a/c pipe is out if the way. Just be careful of some models having an oval shaped tank, which was fitted during a recall for some reason.

@@boilerhousegarage thanks, and the Automatic Transmission Fluid filler is just under the air filter or to one side and don't need to remove anything to fill the Transmission oil ?

I've only worked on manual ones, but if your ATF is reading low, then you will likely have a leak as they don't need topping up like (acceptable loss) engine oil. They are usually read when the fluid is warm and cycled through the gears to have the correct level--unless the Fiesta/Ecosport states differently in the user manual.

@@chezroyedwards9788 yes I did! I got it and replaced it myself! Thankfully it wasn't too hard. If you need the name im sure I can go thru my order history or the website I got it from and get it for you! Its a very easy replacement if you have some pliers no need to pay a mechanic at all!

Hi all, can anyone help me. I noticed mu coolant was low, so I removed the black cap but then there was something else that I couldn't remove to add coolant. It's a black piece inside with metal at the centre. Any tips please

They replace those coolant bottle for free under the coolant recall, those two plastic overflow connectors on the top and bottom of the coolant reservoir crack when they get old, it happened to my fiesta. I bought another plastic piece to replace it, but under the recall they replace everything even the bottle and now give you rubber hoses instead of plastic, there is also other parts they install, I recommend getting this recall done by ford.

Mine is a 2011 & I filed a complaint staright to Ford about another problem I had with my car & they fixed it free plus pulled all the active recalls & fixed those & pulled all the old recalls for review & that wasn't one of them for the 2011's.

Cost me hundreds. I cracked the shits and bought the mishimoto metal coolant tank then it started leaking from the little sight glass so I had to rip it out and plug the threaded holes up with brass bungs. Now there coolant pissing out of a biggish hose down behind the engine on battery side.... So over this car. I need a new coolant cap too now because the lower oring is broken and part of the plastic that the ring sits on has broken off and in the cooling system somewhere. 2014 Fiesta ST sux.

That very thin pipe going to the expansion tank... (coolant overflow/expansion tank return line) over time becomes extremely brittle like hard plastic. Be careful if handling it as I have just snapped mine in half by moving it slightly. Now my mk7 has no coolant and I think I'm fucked

They put so many crap parts in those cars. The engine mounts are rubbish and the whole cooling system is an absolute joke IMO. The Dayco replacement plastic coolant tank is a bad design and the cap it comes with breaks in half after a few months and the little hose connectors are poorly moulded and the hoses don't clip on properly so you gotta use cable ties to hold the quick release jaws in or they could pop off. I could have overheated my engine so many times I have lost count. I'm starting to hate ford and I just want to get rid of this car. Never buying another.
