Doing it from the bottom, I found it easier to loosen the two 13mm bolts on the tensioner to allow more room to get the old belt out and the new one in.

This whole conversation about nimbys does my head in. If local people benefited directly from developments in or near their settlements there would be no nimbys. So for example if houses were built the people in the community would benefit through a dividend in whole or in part of the profits not billionaire developers. If wind turbines are built near my community then the community should profit from the electricity that is sold to the national grid not billionaire energy companies.

This is crazy design. Ford made a simple job so difficult. My Elantra it took 15 minutes to replace belt.

YEah I have a 2013 1.6 ecoboost in a 2013 escape. It's ridiculous too!

FYI, if you do break the connector at 3:15, you need to replace the whole hose, motorcraft part number KM5398. Not that I broke mine, of course.

So, i can remove the belt from under the car and then the alternator from the top without removing the mount and coolant tank?

Altenator won't come through the top without pulling the motor mount and coolant tank. You can pull the belt without pulling the motor mount

You shouldn't have to. A timing belt you might need to however.

The 1.6L duratech doesn't have a tensioner and 1.6L ecoboost does, so it's a different replacement procedure.
