This is such a sad episode. Isayama said in an interview a while back that true happiness is when you don’t achieve your dream. If you think abt it, Erwin lived a happy fulfilling life because he died trying to achieve his dream up until the very in. Armin however just achieved his dream of going past the wall and seeing the ocean, so that just makes you think that all that’s left for him is a cruel reality.

One thing I think Isayama does really well is the character of Floch. I think more than anyone else he represents how someone not affiliated with the main characters would feel. The decision to save Armin may be good later, or it might blow up in their faces. But if the enemies across the sea are as barbaric as they seem, they need a Devil to lead them to victory. And that's what Erwin represented. He could sacrifice hundreds of people in order to complete the mission. And Floch doesn't see that same energy in Armin. Floch needs his Devil. And I really love that he's willing to call out the main characters, because not a lot of people or even shows do that. His speech of wanting to know if it's worth laying his life down for the greater good actually feels very reminiscent of the speeches Jean used to give Eren. How Eren had to make the lives on his shoulders have meaning by showing that he was the right choice. On another note, seeing Frieda actively try to help Grisha(judging from her expression), before being completely taken over and shut down by the first King's will was really sad. She genuinely seemed like a good person who wanted to help humanity. Side note, the scene of Armin and Mikasa playing in the ocean is so adorable. For Armin, because it's been his dream for most of his life. And Mikasa because the trauma in her life has forced her to have a more cold approach to things. This is one of the few times she's been genuinely happy in this entire show. We saw how hard she fought for Armin to get the serum. And now she gets to experience the ocean with him. Wholesome.
@elevate072 жыл бұрын
I would also like to point out that the 104th is the ideal. Not the norm. War doesn't generally make its participants better people. War generally makes them paranoid, fearful, and angry. There's a lot that Floch says that makes people angry and that I don't agree with. But from his perspective, there's a clear reason why he is the way he is. People don't generally want to understand the point of view of people who are trying to kill them. Even if there is more to them. Even if they do have a story. Would you care if the end result is that they want you dead? Especially since that's your only exposure to the outside world. We as an audience know there's more to the outside world but Floch and those like him do not and, from their perspective, there's no reason to believe there's anything out there but death and hatred

28:30 I don’t know if someone else answered this “big question” since there are lots of comments already. Before the invention and popularity of photography there were a lot of other decorations people would put on the walls, some of them in frames with glass like silhouettes, or small watercolors. Actually the first type of photos were on metal sheets and built into decorative cases. Miniaturists, portray artists that worked other mediums had to convert to photography to keep up but there were plenty of other “pictures” people produced and kept.

Marley brought seven of the Nine under their control: Beast - Zeke Armoured - Reiner Colossal - Bertholdt/Armin Female - Annie ? - Marcel/Ymir Backpack - ? ? The Founder stayed with the Eldian Royal Family until Grisha took it from Freida and gave it to Eren. The Attack was either the 7th held by Marley until Kruger or a predecessor restorationist took and was able to keep it under the nose of the Marleyan state, in which case that's all the seven that Marley obtained accounted for and there's another beyond their control apart from the Attack and the Founder, or it was kept in secret by the restorationists since the fall of the Eldian Empire and passed eventually to Kruger and then to Grisha and Eren, which would mean there's another of the seven Marley took that has not been deployed against Paradis during the show.

I have to really disagree with people who say not to watch everything... opening credits, ending credits, post-credit scenes... The show runners have put these things in place for a reason and the people saying not to watch typically are saying this from a place where they have likely watched the whole series and understand the context of those scenes/images/etc... However when you are watching for the first time, you DON'T understand this context so the reaction to those scenes/images/etc... are different. So I think something is lost when you don't watch these and watch them afterwards, like the glitching end-credit. The impact of that scene is lost when you watch it after the episode where the scene takes place vs. watching it before you even start Season 3 Part 2, because the "what the f... is happening?!?" moment is lost. The previews of the next episode that they show after each episode... these can be skipped if people want an experience of not knowing what will happen in upcoming episodes... but the rest of it, I think you lose a part of the viewing experience when you skip things.

@jordandwiggins10262 жыл бұрын
As a character this is not Floch’s most memorable episode in the show, but this is definitely the episode where I have the most sympathy for him. As tactless as he’s being everything he’s saying is completely understandable and from his perspective and yeah, he has every reason to say what he does. People think he’s just being a dick for pointing out how Marlow was feeling when he was about to die but honestly I think he just feels like he’s the ONLY person who can represent what other fodder like Marlow and the others feel and speak up for them. He ultimately was willing to risk it all in the charge like everyone else but it was only under the belief that the scouts would do everything in their power to accomplish their goals no matter the cost and that it would lead to ultimate freedom. But then upon seeing Eren, Mikasa and especially Levi, a higher up make selfish emotional decisions that were in the eyes of most people an objectively less strategically logical choice, he feels like he risked his life and carried out his mission, dragging Erwin to the roof only for it all to be undercut by them sabotaging their own chances of victory. That’s why he says that even fodder like him deserve to decide if it’s worth dying for, they deserve to know if the people they are dying for are going to make the right decisions to save humanity or if they’re going to make, as he sees it, emotional selfish decisions that devalue the countless sacrifices made by other fodder like himself.

No matter how many times I watch it, the sea scene always makes me cry so hard. Such a bittersweet scene... It should've been a happy moment, the scouts finally leaving the walls and seeing the outside world, the sea, reaching freedom... But freedom was never there outside the walls, there were only more enemies and more pain. It must've been so depressing to have fought for so long and so hard to make it here and be free, only to find out that your dream was never possible in the first place because there's worse enemies than titans outside the walls. It's also a cute scene because some reactions are funny, some reactions are beautiful, but Eren's tired empty look breaks me every time. He's already seen the future at this point so there's no way he could enjoy this moment, knowing what will happen. He went through hell just to get here but he still can't rest, he still hasn't reached his goal, he still needs to fight even after all that... And he's so, so lonely and utterly alone here because he can't tell anyone about the memories that only he saw, he needs to keep all that pain to himself and bear the weight of that all alone. It's such a heartbreaking scene. He's been fighting his whole life, only to find out just before he finally reached his goal, that it will accomplish nothing after all, he won't find freedom there... The whole world is against them and after seeing the future memories, he knows there's no happy ending but still so much pain to go through...

おめでとうございます。いつも楽しく日本語訳の動画を観ています。 ファイナルシーズンはエンディング曲のあとも見てください。 Cパートはおまけではないので見ないと物語がわからなくなります。 Congratulations. I always enjoy watching videos translated into Japanese. Please watch the final season after the ending song. The C part is not a bonus, so if you don't see it, you won't understand the story.

They know what a portrait is. It stands to reason they have portrait frames, which doubles as a picture frame.

5:34 ruined the scene, arbitrary start in the middle, none of the trippy lead up, i love how people have ruined some of the best parts of the show for them

The post-credits scene in 3x12 is not only great as a very unexpected and unique cliffhanger, but also a great contrast to the optimistic episode. Of course, everyone can watch the series as they want, but in my opinion it is best to watch the way the authors intended. In the end, Ben and Anna guessed how the serum would be used even without this scene (because the series leads to this), but missed this wonderful experience. In an attempt to avoid spoilers, one can go very far, from skipping Yumir's backstory (she was only supposed to be shown in 3x21), to skipping all the scenes with the Female Titan, as her appearance can spoil the wearer. Season 4 will have a lot of post-credits scenes and a big foreshadowing scene right in the middle of the episode, each of these scenes is an integral part of the story. I just hope they don't miss any of them.

I don´t even know, if I got this right but I believe the reason for Levi holding his cup of tea like that is due to his childhood in the underground and the fear of the handle breaking which would lead to wasting tea what he wants to prevent. That is something I heard once and I thought, it makes a lot of sense since he grew up kinda poor but it may have been just a theory instead of actual facts. But I really love your reactions to AoT and your discussions afterwards. You guys are great!

The show is split into two sections. Before the basement, and After the Basement. This is the start of After.

Why are you assuming people with 1700s technology do not have picture frames
@erineko18472 жыл бұрын
I was so surprised that they couldn’t figure that out since Anna is an artist. Watercolors, silhouettes, embroidery, there were plenty of things to frame before photography was even on paper. 😂

Flock is pronounced like Glock, Lock, Stock, Dock, Knock, Shock, Mock etc. Marley controlled 7/9 of the titans when the King fled to the island. The 2 titans they didnt control were the Founding Titan that the king of the walls had, and the Attack Titan that was held in secret. The Owl was undercover. Marley didnt even know he was an Eldian, let alone an owner of one of the nine. Just because it was located in Marley doesnt mean it was controlled by Marley. The first king of the walls that took the Eldians with him to the island and sealed the gates behind him; - he told the Marleyans that if Marley were to pursue them to the island he would unleash the titans within the walls against them. -he told the members of the Eldian Royal Family that got left behind in Marley that he made the "Vow to Renounce War" and that when Marley did eventually surpass the power of the Founding Titan and came to finish them off, he would accept defeat and the Eldian's Paradise would come to an end. Grisha's father told him what Marley was lead to believe, and The Owl told Grisha the truth about the Vow. The empty threat was intended to give them decades/centuries of peace before the Eldians were completely eradicated, and the King would accept their people being wiped out entirely.

Great video! Just wanted to say that Do not miss any more after credit scenes. All the after credit scenes in Season 4 are extremely crucial to the story. If you miss them, you won't be able to make sense of the next episode. So please double check to see of there are any post credit scenes in any of the episodes of the final season.

Apparently the reason why Levi holds a cup that way is because when he was a kid he got an expensive tea set and when he tried to pick up the cup, the handle broke off and the cup shattered. So that incident scarred Levi so much that he now always holds cups like that.

Why did you not watch the entirety of the outro for EP12? Even after you've watched the whole season? WHO THE HELL told you to skip the outro, that's part of the experience of the after credit of EP12...damn... Just jumping straight to the stamp doesn't hit.

I feel like the end credit for this episode was Armin’s. Mikasa got hers in s1, Eren gets one, and even Jean. I think this one is Armin’s, with him sitting there with the seashell in his hands signifying hope (vs Eren’s depression). There must have been a reason for Armin being the last image of season 3, after all of these scenes of violence.

Man that last scene is so brutal. I was so happy when they got there the first time I watched it, and then Eren rightly points out that the world out there is not at all what we imagined. Not an empty, free world, but a world full of enemies. I've never gone from thrilled to depressed so quickly.
