Replacing headlight bulbs in a Volkswagen b5 b5.5 Passat

Thanks for joining me on for this video! Today we remove the old factory H7 bulbs in our 2004 Volkswagen Passat wagon and replace them with Lasfit LED conversions. If you are looking to just replace the factory bulbs with the same, this is still the video for you!

What does the light beam look like? Does the light get scattered everywhere and blinds other drivers, or does it focus well with the projector?

It behaves like the factory bulb as far as I can tell.

Did you have any issues with fog lights not working (and high beams coming on very dimly instead of fogs) after changing bulbs to LED in high beams? I am having that issue.

I did not. Did you check the harness in at the lights or the headlight switch for any burn marks? That was common back in the HID conversion days.

@@AutoScholarwithMrB yeah thanks no burn marks. I see some reports of this with some other makes of vehicle. (When you turn fogs on at switch, the fogs don't come on but the instrument cluster indicates high beams are on and if you look closely, the high beams are indeed on very dimly) I assume it's because highs and fogs are on a relay that signals fogs to turn off when you have high beams on. However, I do not have high beams on when this occurs. I also put H3 LED yellow fog lights in at the sem time. I think I need to add resistors to fogs or high beams or both, just not sure which.

FYI, I fixed my issue this weekend. Involved installing a cheap load resistor for LED lights on my passenger side high beam. Tap resistor into white/yellow (high beam) wire and brown wire (ground) on the passenger side headlight harness. (I extended the resistor wires so that I could reach metal frame to attach the resistor heatsink to.) Happy to report no need for resistor on either LED fog light, or low beams, or diver side high beams.

@@AutoScholarwithMrB awesome hey since I have you here I wanted to ask you a question I’ve been getting some misfires still after I just replace the spark and coil so I want to see if changing air filter wil help with fluttering of rpm

@@majestickingz5135 what year GLI? If it is past a 2005 I would look into checking the intake valves for carbon build up. It is a common problem on those.

@@majestickingz5135 yes I would check for carbon on the valves and maybe a faulty oil separator. These can cause misfires. Good luck with your repair!

Lame modification and in many countries illegal. You should better clean and polish headlights for more "clarity" and more light from factory h7 bulbs.
