I drove both. The ep3 feels a bit smaller inside than the fn2, but technically there are pretty much the same, if you don't go with the lsd version. The ep3 has a smaller circle of turn and can handle tight corners a bit better but lacks a bit of stability at high speed cornering, while the fn2 sticks to the road a little bit more. I wish I could own all the TypeR Civics. They're all Japanese masterpieces and every single one I drove was a joy.

As I’ve always said. EP3s are a better driver’s car. But an FN2 is a better overall car. Comfort, practicality, interior, driver’s toys, etc. But as to which is better it really does depends on preference. I’m EP3 all the way but I would happily own an FN2 as well. Both are great cars! And another great video guys! 💪🏻

We have an fn2 - interior space wise it’s much better for a family :) The vtec kick in point is slightly lower which makes it more drivable. It’s a harsh ride mind. Michellin Pilot Sport best mod. I’d prefer an ep3 if it was just me but for a family… the fn2

FN2 has aged really well. it still rather modern but EP3 looks like a dated ol bread van.

EP3 is more raw compared to the FN2 - but I prefer the FN2, Vtec comes in earlier on the FN2 and it looks so much better :)

Put them on some corner sales, I don't think the FN2 weighs barely any more than the EP3. FN2 doesn't have independent rear suspension (how man of us could even tell driving?) but bare in mind just how much stiffer the shell and chassis are. + all the safety, cabin and NVH improvements.

Haven't driven either but I did have two '89 CRXs and as JP said the engineering is bulletproof.

I've always thought the FN2 was similar in execution to the MK4 Golf GTI.

No I own both. The FN2 is a MUCH harder ride, with better turn in and more responsive steering. The Mark IV GTi 1.8t isn’t bad once taken to stage 1 tuning but it’s far smoother ride quality but isn’t as alive as the fn2.

@@dtrain1634 what I was getting at is the previous version and following versions of cars both were generally regarded as being better. Not saying they are comparable dynamically.

I prefer the EP3 I prefer the looks. I think it's more subtle but everyone seems to recognise them. I prefer the interior. Don't think I liked the standard seats but the recaros are spot on. Never understood people calling the EP3 raw though as it's the most refined car I've ever had.

Both great cars and excellent value for money. The Ep3 has not had anywhere it's potential unlocked yet! It sounds and feels like a different car with a either Tegiwa M /Gruppe M indu 30:14 30:14 ction kit and a good quality cat back exhaust! Ive got a Spoon n1 with the Spoon centre resonator on my ep3 and it sounds so much better than stock! Very deep in lower revs, screams in the high revs and not raspy 👌 also a new set of uprated bushes including a set of engine/gearbox mount inserts makes a huge difference to how they drive. Very fun car, it puts a bigger smile on my face than my 400+hp Golf R.

I think for most of us the ep3 came into our lives when top gear featured it! What a little machine.. but you can not write the fn2 off.. I’m also guilty of calling it ugly and heavy and slow. But it’s really not! Done correctly it can be a beautiful beast!

I've driven all the civic type Rs Which are all classics and I bought an fn2. I like the ep3 but it's like an old van with the interior and the external. The fn2 is like a spaceship. Even now it hasn't aged still holds up against modern cars. As far as I'm concerned, just needs a few mods, And the engine is incredible. You can get so much horsepower out of it with certain mods.

Haha 😮 It’s pretty nimble tbh once pilot sport 4 are fitted. Before that ours was rubbish. Afterwards it’s like a different car

The fn2 is very nimble mate I just stopped eating pies 😂. Decent tires on it. I ragged mine around Brands hatch and it held brilliantly 👍

EP3 as an investment, Fn2 as a thrashbox. I would advise removing those crappy carpet wheel arch liners from the rear of they're still there on the EP3 and also look at the icv as they get sticky. I used to do mine every two years, just pull apart, clean with brake cleaner and reassemble.

the strange thing people always say the fn2 is a heavy car but it isnt on the official site it says its 1267kgs its lighter than all the other gti rs st cars in its class by at least 50kgs and the ep3 weighs 1204kgs so with its bigger interior space and all the extra mod cons its actually only 63kgs heaver !!!!!

1330 kg real weight, mine is at 1220 kg without rear seats and interior and 1/3fueltank.

@@SasaDraskovic o rite auto data and honda website says its dry weight is 1260kg i just checked again so are they all wrong ! golf gti from 2010 are 1375kg -ford st from 2010 are 1390 -renault megan rs from 2010 are 1387 !! so still a lot lighter than ever gti from the time !!!

@@collinwaugh939 yes, If we talk just about kg without nm per tonne as reference. Those turbo competitors could be 50-100 kg heavier but with double the torque lowdown or midrange. As a owner of a modified fn2, torqueless feeling is main problem with the car. You need to rev it hard all the time, even after remap and boltons you need 5000rpm+ to keep it alive and to have that light chasis feeling. I really love NA engines but 200NM•200hp could be ok if you have eg6 or ek9 with sub1000kg weight. Fn2 and fd2 needed turbo or frank engine as a stock solution if NA was wanted, k24 block k20 head and 300hp NA. All those competitors are at 300hp with cheap remap and after that 50-100 kg doesnt matter. Ive done weight reduction primarily because of braking, cornering and more fun.

@@SasaDraskovic i came from a Nissan 370z and a Porsche Boxster s both cars have a lot more power but cant really use it on the roads the fn2 you can have so much fun and still keep your licence at the end of the day !!!

i dont think they are sold in uk. some ek9s were imported but they are very expensive and most have aged and have rot on them

abarth is a complete pos having owned one for 6 days. Engine had no character apart from the sound which was good, seating position was comparable to a van, felt awful in the corners really unstable. Sold it pretty much after its first drive.
