@@Dreamlink91 I had a 2003 V70 and 3/4 of it was written off in a low speed impact in town. I'm talking less than 30mph! Supposed to have impact protection bars in them. After that incident never bought Volvo again lost faith in their quality.

My 16 year old son purchased my old 2006 V70 R that I had built at IPD USA. Since they worked it my buddy & I (who was a Volvo tech for 8 years) installed a bigger inter cooler and an even nicer exhaust. He programed it to allow higher boost in "advanced" suspension mode. I owned a Volvo Amazon that was heavily trimmed. The whole car was built for racing. 10 Gears in the gearbox. Had 2 gearboxes, one mounted behind the other. Plus exaggeration. Drove that car at top speed in Sweden with almost 9000 OMD on the engine. 10 gears with overdrive on. A GIK Turbo big as a bucket was installed in the engine compartment. Racing cars use such large Turbos. Pressurized water was installed and injected into the intake. It cooled down the compression. A cold compression is a hard compression. Had over 100Km,h in 3 gears to give gas. Then the wheels spun on dry asphalt. Volvo Amazon 1970 Model. The car was so low. Only had to drive on plain asphalt with it. There were also thick belts between the rear axle and the bodywork. The car lay flat in all curves. Very fun car to drive. I drove the car out at top speed. In Sweden. In top gear. With Overdrive in. :D :D :D I am 100% sure that the car did over 300Km,h at top speed. That in a Volvo Amazon. :D The most fun car I've owned.

That's because an RS6 is in no way a sleeper. Yes, it is "just an S6"...but it really isn't. It's an Audi with an RS badge, and the moment you so much as put a loud exhaust on an Audi people who don't even know cars look at it and go, "oh, that guy wanna be fast." A V70R could drive around with the exhaust set to quiet and in the comfort tune...you'd never guess it had 500+ HP. They were kinda fast to begin with, but never really took off as a good platform to modify for power until more recently.

I have one of the dreaded T6 XC90s running a tune for 320HP (and a shift kit lol), so a lot less power, but man when you hit like 4500 with your foot to the floor...even the sound of the motor changes. If I had to have a car for b-roads, it probably wouldn't be a P2 Volvo of any sort. But on the freeway they are total locomotives.

Definitely make the change! I went from a 2.0T to a 2.3T5 and that's already a huge difference. The 2.0T is actually stronger between 1500-2000 RPM, so for economy driving and city driving it's a little pokier, but above that the T5 is a LOT of fun. Only swap if you don't mind the hit in fuel economy, because the 2.3T5 uses about 50% more fuel at the same highway speed.

One of the coolest things about these P2 Volvos is the bank of 7 buttons along the bottom edge of the center console. There are 7 button spaces, but Volvo had at least 10 different features that could be assigned to these buttons at the factory, which could make your car feel like some kind of utilitarian rolling tank, rather than just a car. Off the top of my head, I can list some of them: - Flip down rear headrests - Fold mirrors in / out - Activate swivel headlights - Enable/Disable Rear Air Conditioning - Toggle Petrol or LPG fuel source - DSTC On/Off - Alarm guard reduction - Parking Sensors On/Off - Toggle Four-C suspension modes - Trunk Lock/Unlock - Enable/disable rear window switches Im sure there are more features I have forgotten, but it was very cool to have this big bank of buttons that made THINGS happen when you press. WAYY better than any touchscreen BS.

This is just insane .. and you look at rs6 that cost what over 40/50 k compared to 2004 Volvo damn … this car is such a insane build , well done !! I mean I don’t know how much build like this would cost , but it’s worthy for sure !!!!
@Laylander
@Laylander 2 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure this car cost just as much. A reasonably maintained -R is about €13k, add 2k for Stage 0 maintenance and in this case a brand new B5254T4 engine on top of that. All the mods must have cost a small fortune. The LSD alone is €1400 already!

2004 RS6 sells for $18-30k in the US. my e61 535i cost me $13k four years ago and will hit 600hp easy on stock engine internals..and those two cars are both longitudinal platforms

@@JanWoerdemann I'm not sure but it's been driven for about 20 years and since last year it kept having some issues like cracks in the oil tank, the air-conditioning kept failing, power steering sometimes randomly failed. So it was just at the end of it's life I guess.

I own a S60 2.4i with just 157.000 km. It is natural aspirated with 170hp. I think it is to slow. It only drives about 210 km/h GPS. I wish I had a 6th gear. The undercarriage feels way to undefined like a ship. Currently my car has had a defective generator and the battery has to be fixed soon. My engine burns oil. I believe the crankcase membrane is dead. Because of the bad design of the motor the intake manifold has to be removed first which is a hard job. My steering angle sensor is defective too. This month I will have a bill of about 1k€ but I think it's worth it. I really love this old-school tech mixed with new tech. Driving to work relaxes so much. I love the sound system and the engine sound once you've passed 3000 rpm. I love the death angle warning system and the cornering light, the integrated phone, the sunroof which can be opened or tilted. I love the safety the car provides. The only moments while driving where I felt unsafety was on a mountain road in Switzerland. I drove downhill way to speedy for the corners. The curve became thin although the car has very good brakes 😁. The feedback is good. The car gives a good feeling of what is impossible. The steering is comfortable but precise. I know that I won't have the possibility to get something like that in future again. That's the reason I keep it. These engines will never be built again. The S60R and V70R engines aren't to reliable. It's to much power for the size of the motor. That's why I chose natural aspiration. Those engines last at least 300-400k
