@luxorcephrenSE23 Жыл бұрын
I agree with you, but also the depreciation of a new car is outrageous. After 5 years you're probably left with approx 35% of what you paid. Much rather have a used car, pay more for ongoing costs but have far far less depreciation to deal with later!

Surely you by a used car for 20-30k and use the 10-20k left for mods and services. You could get a 911 and stage 1 it. Or a golf r 7 and stage 2 that. Then your car would be more personal to you. I’ve got a 16 plate used octavia 1.4 150 with light visual mods as I want understated look but just enough for some thrills. Spent under 15k And it can keep with a hot hatch to about 110-20mph before the extra 50bhp makes a difference. I'm not sure if I really would want to own a used, old BMW i8. Sure, it looks amazing, but it's almost impossible to get spare parts as it's so rare, so owning it will be quite expensive, and the performance isn't great for the power. The same also applies to many other cars in the list. Of course, they look like amazing value, but spare parts for a >100k car will always be a lot more expensive than for a Golf for example, same for insurance, taxes and also fuel consumption. There is a difference between being able to buy a car, and being able to afford it. You should always keep in mind the total cost of ownership.

6:04 Oh no, not a Maserati. It's known to go wrong in all sorts of ways, owning one is a pain in the ass. Rent one out before buying it, it'll probably stop working within 15 minutes.

Lovely list of cars, but if you can't afford a new car, you probably can't afford to own and maintain all the cars here other than the Mustang and the Nissan GTR. Some components of these cars can cost close to £10,000 to replace. And a few of these cars are truly reliable.
