You can think of concept cars like this as “what cars might look like without rules and regulations”. Cars have to comply with a plethora of different safety regulations that can drastically alter the design.

The reason they often have to change the look is because of crash regulations. Car has to be a certain shape to be safer in a crash.

Whilst its always good to see manufacturers stretch there minds and designs, there's a lot of impractical equipment and a lot of frustrating functions, And ones that will take more time to operate than to do things manually, but they are concepts and I presume only a few of the tech bits will actually reach the every day car. So well done Audi for giving us a small glimpse into the future.

There are loads of amazing concepts that manufacturers make to get some buzz, but very rarely, if ever, do they make production without some massive downgrades. Steering Wheel should fully deploy in 2 seconds. You might need the wheel RIGHT NOW! It can take its time folding away. All and all, the version in the AUDI RSQ from "I, Robot" (2004), works best to me. It deploys in less than a second and folds away about as fast.

I really like the interior design of the skysphere interior (except for the analog clock). It is so clean and scifi spaceship looking. Not a fan of the gesture controlls though because they would probably be pretty hit and miss or trigger when you did not intend to and even in full autonomy mode I would still like to be able to take over seemlessly rather than having to wait for the steering wheel and pedals to emerge.

Japanese and Korean manufacturers never fully followed that craze. These days, they have the upper hand when it comes to parts availability. In the long run, usability always beats short-lived trends. It's visible, especially now, when cars' availability is lower, while prices - higher.

This dosent effect the functionality of the car, i wonder however what will happen with this new fangled thing if the little motor for deploying the steering wheel or opening the doors fails. are you essentially left with a brick? are there going to be manual overrides? like flip a switch and manually pull the steering wheel out? with the reliability of global supply chains and audi dealerships this stuff just dosent seem like a viable form of transportation yet. not to say it isn't a cool toy to show off on the floors of a trade show!

Just wondering. If this is autonomous car idea why the front chair’s facing windows? The should be turn backwards.

These concept cars are jaw dropping however some of the feature seem oddly placed if you want ti change settings but need to focus on the road, for example the climate control buttons being on the door.

So if there is a problem, you have to press the button and wait the several seconds before you can take control. The designs look great, but glass covered grills don’t sound very durable when you’re driving out in the real world,

I think they got the aerodynamics in the front of the s8 car a bit wrong . Looks like a plus fuel consumption and a breaker of speed.
