I agree about the looks. The Discos 3 & 4 look like a rugged 4x4 should look whereas the new one is nothing but a styling excercise that has gone horribly wrong - it is positively ugly!

Wow! So sad to see so many comments about the disco 4 being unreliable. We run a fleet of 9 on our game reserve in South Africa, done a collective 1million km. With no serious issues. We have had all the discos, but won’t get disco 5 because of looks and price. And if disco 3 was more reliable the 4 we would have stayed with them. Lr4 is the best car in the world! Does absolutely everything, and reliability issues were sorted out.

1:36: I will never, for the life of me, understand why the split tailgate was removed on the new one. Never once have I ever heard anyone complain about the split folding rear. This car will look great for many years to come, although I do have a preference for the front end on the Disco 3.
@MichaelMengo
@MichaelMengo 2 жыл бұрын
It is probably a cost cutting measure as well as safety. It is cheaper to make a single piece tailgate than a split one and in the event of an accident there is less cabin intrusion with a single piece tailgate

I have an 2015 discovery 4 and its the best car I have ever owned. I never took any notice of the negative reliability rants, just made up my own mind. I found a very clean low mileage car and sourced a highly rated land rover specialist near me. He said the best advice was regular servicing is the key and his attention to detail has given me trouble free motoring. There is nothing else like it on the road, bad surfaces and bad weather never troubles the car just keeps on going. buy one you will not be disappointed

Hi I’ve found an absolute “minter” from a Land Rover specialist who have an amazing reputation. It’s a 65 plate with 41k and full LR service history. I’m so wary after reading all the bad stuff - do you still have the same opinion? I’d appreciate a reply? Cheers
@inverterville
@inverterville 4 жыл бұрын
@@reetpateet8656 A 65 will have all the early car issues ironed out. I bought mine with 42k on the clock now on 76 with no issues. As with every car there will be problems. If you get a good one then the secret is to look after it. Regular service is paramount. find a LR specialist is best they get to know your car and give you peace of mind. I never use supermarket fuel and only good tyres. If you purchase you will not be disappointed ,nothing else like it and I am struggling to decide what to replace it with.. .just an update. I have now changed to a discovery 5 and I must say its a great car. As for reliability guess time will tell, after six months of ownership its been faultless

Best car we’ve ever owned, and a great review, thanks! One little point I would make which may have been missed, and as a drummer and a dad I use this every week, but those back seats fold down further for a completely flat load space right up to the front seats. It’s a bit fiddly until you get used to it, but a brilliant piece of design when you do! Cheers from Downunder 👍

My disco 3 is 10 years old and has never broken down. I get 10km to the litre and I go 4x4'ing a lot. I can go places in extreme comfort that other 4x4's can only do if you wear a kidney belt. This is a serious piece of engineering so servicing should be done at the dealers and if you don't and you try work on it yourself without the required skill levels then you can expect breakdowns. If you cannot afford it then stick to Toyota, Ford, Nissan and Jeep where you can fix them at home with wire, rubber bands and gaffer tape.

You're wrong: Fords need an overpriced mechanic for most of their repairs and they are not more reliable than GM, Jeep, etc. That's why I don't recommend any of their SUVs.

LOL! B.S. it is just a car with a regular ole motor. Anyone that understands working on cars and can read a service manual can work on them. It is just a car. And any new car electronics bugs can be fixed if you understand CAN BUS.

Tristan Andrew Acosta there’s quite a few for sale that are basically brand new, 15k and under warranty till 40k or 4 yrs. I just bought 2016 HSE silver edition with 16k and I love it! Could have got the new one but there is just something about this one that is timeless. Only complaint is Navi has a bit of lag. Other than that, I love driving this suv and people will break their necks to see who is driving it ;)

@@ir0n2541 hi , try to go for the latest one possible, they have the updated security, but depends on your budget as prices have shot up £3/4000 , low mileage as possible because you have to think about changing the turbos and that extreme expensive as the body has to be lifted. Full service history is a must, you may have to go to a local landrover dealer as it’s on their system, keep an eye on the air suspension they can go wrong ,mine now playing up , I have a landmark special edition with sits between hse and hse luxury . Only done 26700 . Make sure the spare wheel is the same as rest of alloys i missed that, I only got this car as only done 14254 in the clock , as was going after hse lux , it’s got all the toys , I have seen the graphite model which is based to se tech which is ok , but seen one with lots of extra options , try abs get a landrover car spec book so you can check out the model specs and options , eBay is ok to obtain that, I hope that helpes, auto trader is worth a look for staters . Despite living in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, Australia we somehow still get between 900-1,000+ kms per 80L tank despite the daily climbs etc. No roof racks, bull bars or snorkels, just steel rock sliders each side for off-road body protection, so that all helps economy. The thing that bothers me about these Land Rover reviews is that they seem to gloss over the reliability failures. Two years ago a survey showed that 71% of all Land Rovers over three years old break down at least once a year. I would expect that figure from a new car maker but not one that has been around for decades. As for going off-road in one, here in Australia it would probably be laughed at.

Gets around 900kms city/1,000+ country per 80L tank, overtakes everything quickly and safely, and is a dream to drive over long distances, which here in Australia is a very necessary bonus!
