You have rod knock either the piston is slapping against the crankshaft or if your truck has rods that open and close the valves the spring on the rocker arms might not be tight anymore and is causing camshaft to be out of time witch would cause misfire or cause engine to not start properly or rough or just not work at all.

If it did fail check the voltage drop from the negative battery terminal to the frame , should be less than 300ma

When this happened to me my truck sputtered a little bit then began shaking/vibrating. I coasted it to Autozone to get the codes read and they were the same as yours. I bought my vctv’s from Ford (cheapest price) but had an issue taking the valves out. The hole in the valve cover was not big enough so I chipped out part of the locking flange on the cast aluminum valve cove and was able to get them out without removing the valve covers. Make sure to put a rag under the flange to catch debris. Your guy should be able to do this without any issues. If you need further help let me know. This should, by my guess, fix the issue. The valves were not expensive.

I had a 2005 Ford Escape which would randomly shut off whenever I drove over the plastic speed bumps or cracked roads. It was really annoying and it took the mechanics a LONG time to figure out because there weren't any codes. Turned out to be the crankshaft sensor's cable was loose and was causing disconnects every time there was a strong enough shaking of the engine 🤦🏻♂
@CosmicCamm5 жыл бұрын
My guess is the camshaft position sensor went out. But I'm not a super mechanic either.
@jakematthews69825 жыл бұрын
Newer Fords have a pressure sensor on the fuel rail in most cases and that info can be seen on the scanner. See if you can see the fuel pressure there and take note of it but don’t trust it completely. Use a mechanical fuel pressure tester. If you have adequate pressure check for spark. Your engine sounded fine as far as compression is concerned - didn’t sound weak while cranking. No spark doesn’t necessarily mean a bad coil or computer. At that point check for crank signal and cam signal. The crankshaft and camshaft signals are very important as far as fuel and spark as the computer uses those signal to set fuel and spark timing. Simple troubleshooting will narrow it down.

I haven't watched the full video, but it could be a fuel pump. On a lot of cars, they don't throw codes and if they just stop working, they usually don't trigger the check engine light either. Im pretty sure you're going to need a new Melling oil pump just to be safe and couple of parts for the timing. Thats what's wrong with your truck. Hope it gets fixed soon!
@alexpuls82195 жыл бұрын
Yeah, definitely jumped timing or something. There is a dead spot when its cranking over. He says he heard knocking too. That engine might be toast 😕

It could be oil pump gears broke in it or maybe the cam phasers or timing chain has some issues? Be interesting to see what it ends up being

I have a 2000 F-350 7.3L powerstroke and since I super tuned it, about every 3yrs the camshaft positioning sensor goes bad. I've just learned to have 2 or 3 on hand, in glove box, and when she starts shuttering and shuts down, I climb under with 10mm socket and screwdriver and change it out. Problem solved. But, if you let your engine cool all the way down, it will crank up and you should be able to get it home to fix it. Over excessive heat from engine being hyper tuned causes the CPS to go bad.

Good luck with your truck Sir! I’m ready to win that C Class🚘

I don't know your reason for sending the truck all the way to VMP in Florida, while Brian could check it out too.. Seems some basic malfunction. IF it really is the fuelpump, put in a more powerful (aftermarket) pump. With the boost, the engine needs more fuel, possibly stressing the original fuelpump.

The one and only PIPSBURGH views can fix it for ya.
@taxi6155 жыл бұрын
have them check your camshaft position sensor and check the fuel pump I'm guessing it's stock and all that extra power is taxing on the pump. it's probably just a stock part starting to fail because of the extra power as simple as that.

Tundra TRD Pro in the near future? I image the truck has sentimental value so probably not, but wouldn’t be a bad choice though.

I had this happen in my 2016 f150 with the 5.0 .I don't let it get under a half a tank . And only had the truck two weeks now .I no codes .I would like to know what is causing the problem in yours .because the deal doesn't see any codes.

You did the Raptor steering wheel mod, now do the 8” screen instrument cluster swap from livinitup on the F150 forum. Makes a huge difference and can show digital temps after using Forscan.
