Doing some math, there is 2.35 gallons left in the tank at zero. If you drive conservatively you could get around 60 miles!

@Joey Mitchell and of course in my junior and senior year I had a blue 2014 F150 Limited. Turned out I took the 2018 Limited back because I decided to get a 2019 F150 Platinum with the 3.5L it's because I have horses and I see most equine cowboys driving f150 platinums more than king ranches the 2018 Limited was a little too fancy but I like the 2019-2020 Raptor powered Limiteds alot better. The interior is something to die for on those trucks so by far the F150 Raptor powered Limiteds are my dream trucks And of course my oldest buddy drives a F450 Limited dually. 6'11 22/23 years old like myself he's something else. But I like my platinum it's badass enough for me and it's also blue jeans. So I have a blue platinum now.

And my drive home from work is 30 mi, I knew there were gas stations on my way home so I didn't care much. But I did my drive home and drove to the gas station the day after on 0 to E, also was below freezing outside, a little nerve racking but i was impressed. The 5.0 is a lot more fuel sipping than people think. I average about 20 mpg vs my 2012 3.5 which averaged maybe 15. Can't wait to see what it will be like with the 10 speed.

So I thought I had plenty of margin the day I drove it to zero miles after driving to Albuquerque from Lubbock. Made it maybe 2 miles past zero and it died. Fortunately a gas station was in walking distance... but keep in mind... when driving in mountainous areas, and/or higher elevation - YMMV. :) Side note, my F150 just hit 235,000 miles... and still going strong. This was hilarious lol.. Your commentary had me rolling for some reason! Man, I have a fx2 Ecoboost and I ran out of gas with 45miles till empty only because it was back in my driveway and its a slant so all the fuel was forward in the tank.
@EdwardZNorton5 жыл бұрын
then you shouldn't have ran out, classically the fuel line is in the front of the pump so when its slanted downhill with the nose down it can still drink whatever is in the tank, ive only ever seen a truck fail to start or run out of fuel when it still had some gas in the tank when the grill was at a 60 degree angle higher then the bed
@mq90474 жыл бұрын

Daniel Santiago I would imagine the truck is just trying to play tricks on your brain by making it still have a couple gallons left in the tank when it hits 0, so that way people aren't running on fumes for a good while, there's no way it could go that long on fumes, it's a weird thing to do but that's probably what they do.
@MrPDXMcQueen7 жыл бұрын
They do exactly what Weatheronthe8s said. It tricks you because when you are hauling a trailer at the trucks towing capacity you get 2-4 MPG. They want to give you enough time to get to a gas station. My Nissan Titan has a 24 Gallon fuel tank, the gauge hits empty when you have 4 gallons left in the tank.
@silverback76597 жыл бұрын
Daniel Santiago meh it's really only bad if you try to start the truck after it's ran out of gas.

I’ve done it with my 2014 Toyota RAV4. My range hits 0 around 20 miles after my gas light comes on. I did it during the lockdowns because I was waiting for the price of fuel to bottom out during the lockdowns last year. Although I let my car sit for a lot of it and only used it sparingly for 2 months for trips to Office Depot for school supplies. One time I went to get school supplies and my car wouldn’t start in my driveway. It was out of gas at 67 miles after the gas light came on which is the equivalent of 47 miles on 0 range. There was probably also some varnish in the tank from letting my car sit. The furthest I’ve pushed it was 78 miles after the gas light came on (58 miles on 0 range) and second farthest was 74 after the gas light came on when I went 510.3 miles on a single tank driving on flat terrain in New Jersey and Delaware and rolling hills in Pennsylvania

It really disturbs how many moronic drivers, who had all the room and time in the world, didn't move over for you into the left lane when they could clearly see you standing there fueling your truck. The Move Over Law should not just apply to emergency vehicles stopped in the shoulder, but ALL vehicles stopped in the shoulder. It's common sense!

Ford could put the filler neck on the other side! I mean it's no biggy what side it's on when at the gas pump, but if you need to pull over like this and gas up with a jerry can, why can't you stand opposite of traffic when pulled to the shoulder right?

A few things.. generally the fuel meter is calibrated to a value around the x Liter per 100km value (it is an estimated OEM value). For example, one car model from a certain OEM was calibrated to -20L on "empty" when we set it up. Though, the older the car the more inaccurate the sensor element becomes. Like my current car, 20 years old, I can still drive like 200-250km when the fuel warn lamp goes active.. With moderate driving the average goal is to reach between 50km and 100km which should be plenty to reach the next gas station unless you are in the furthest hinterlands. Next factor is your petrol pump, especially if the car is older they may not empty out the entire tank anymore. And a fair warning, especially if the car is older: if you drive it to empty you risk to get the dirt that may have collected over the years on the bottom pumped into the fuel system. Yes, there is a filter that prevents the engine to get affected (much), but the lines before the filter can become clogged and the lifetime of the filter may be greatly impacted.

I bet ppl looking at him like " haha another ford on the side of the road".. this is a great video I love these trucks. I just got a 2022 f150 2.7 ecoboost and I'm sure it's around the same on a reserve tank

As a 2016 Lariat owner with a 3.5L Ecoboost, may I rain on your parade a little bit here. The "Miles to Empty" reading changes constantly depending on your average mpg per tank. In other words, it adjusts to the style of driving you're doing. City vs Highway, and Tranny Modes (Standard vs Sport mode). So for example, you wouldn't think your range in city driving would be the same as your highway range would you? So as your mpg increases, the "Miles to Empty" (or range) are going to get bigger. When I first got my truck, on a full tank of gas, I was only showing about 297 miles of range, just driving around town. But as I have driven it around 2500 miles or so now, I'm showing around 310 miles range on a full tank. So what you're really showing is that the Miles to Empty display is really not a good indicator as to how much fuel you actually have left. The so-called reserve fuel is probably the same. It's just that your truck's range estimate is wrong. In this case, it was estimating more city miles than highway miles.

If you want a truck don’t get a eco boost get a 5.0

Hey Malcom....I was advised by Ford Engineering guys....not sales guys, but people at the engineering center, to get the ecoboost 3.5 if I wanted to tow....not to get the the 5.0 !! Sounds counter-intuitive but it's true. I traded a 5.0 for the ecoboost and it was like night and day towing. I tow a 2017 Ranger 620 with a 250HP motor. About 3,000 pounds.
