Sitting from 508 into the Passat feels like sitting to a car that is one class below. Quality is not comparable, 508 even makes the Audi A4 feel like its made of plastic and cheap.

@casawi1986 Anyone who prefers passat over 508 simply is ignorant or doesnt know anything about cars. Difference between the 2 cars is huge. The thing is, this 508 in video is a basic model, passat was top highline model. 508 feels like Audi A6 when you're in it, very similar in feel. Passat feels like a cheap version of A4. Its not a bad car, but its just far from being the best. French cars dominate this segment today. C5, 508 and Laguna beat Passat, Mondeo, Insignia with no problems.

Nice review. I bought the Peugeot myself. I got used to the gearbox, I think it's good. Other than that, there's nothing to complain anyway. Good, solid cars which consumes little diesel.

@casawi1986 Mondeo is maybe better than Passat, but its not better than 508. 508 is really not a car that should be compared with them, because its a car that sits between 2 segments. Its like between Audi A4 and Audi A6. In all terms, quality, comfort, space inside, equipment, technology, fit and finish.... Mondeo doesnt come close in any of those areas, and 508 with GT equipment pack drives like no other big FWD car. 508 has a feel of luxury and higher class than Passat or Mondeo

minder problemen is niet hetzelfde als geen problemen. Toegegeven de 122pk levert minder problemen dan de andere compressor varianten. Maar voor de VAG een type motor die niet in de schaduw mag staan tov de 1.8 en 2.0 fsi en tfsi motoren.

echt zoooooo'n stomme commentaat van die Roy. Tuurlijk heeft een 508 een wat simpelere instrumentarium dan de RCZ. De RCZ is de topauto van peugeot. De 508 gewoon een middenklasser. Dat merk je toch ook aan de prijzen. Jeetje als je een auto gaat beoordelen moet je wel objectief blijven, en niet alles naar jou eigen verwachte waarden trekken.

Sitting position in the Peugeot compared with the Passat is terrible for a tall person. To much knee bend, very low position of the steering wheel (even on highest setting), less headroom etc. Interior is nicer looking though with many more features. Seat quality is excellent. The Passat on the other hand has simple but functional interior which is extremely well built with the seats comfortable but not at the Peugeot level.

La question du design est une question de gout. Ca ne ce discute pas. La 508 est belle et j aime la nouvelle Passat aussi. A part ça Peugeot ne me plait PLUS! Citroen je trouve fait de TRES belle voiture ... oui. La nouvelle DS5 superbe. Mais tu mélange innovation de design et innovation tous court! La liste d'innovation chez VW est énorme! DSG? Et question prix? Pourquoi achetez une Clio quand je peut acheté une DACIA pour la moitier? Il y a pas seulement Audi qui fait ca.

I think that the 508 can't be compared with the Passat/Audi A4/BMW 3series/Mercedes C-class because it's between Audi A4-A6 (like A5 or smth), between 3 and 5 series, and between C and E class. So, you can't compare them, although the Passat is a way lot more better, more goodlooking, with bigger quality, better gearbox(even with the automatic-DSG which is one of the best automatics ever made). Hi, I am French and live in Germany and am member of the ADAC. I don't know what you are reading, but the ADAC say's nothing of the sort. French cars do ok in the first 3 years, then things go VERY wrong. I own a Renault Clio. NEVER AGAIN. Blown gasket with 60000 ... scandal to say the least. My Fathers Laguna one new gearbox, 1 MCU, and two new turbos in 80000. I also have a VW Passat with 170.000 km never ever a problem. If you a proud to be French start being realistic and change!

Not true. The 508 is better to make new friends! The garage you'll go often because the car is not reliable, the customer service because you'll call them often, almost every tow service in your road because you'll need assistance, other Peugeot owners you'll be friends with while waiting together for your car to be repaired... Yes, in this world. I had both the 508 and the Passat: the 508 has only one advantage: it's comfy. Otherwise the engine is weaker, so soft suspension that it's like a car from the 90s, the GPS screen used to bug all the time and I had to hit it to make it come back, if the driver puts a drink in his cupholder he cannot see the GPS screen anymore. And the price is the same as the Passat. Why would anyone pay more for a car that is less reliable, less performant, lower resell value and not convenient? For the "prestige" of the Peugeot badge? Peugeot is not selling worldwide, Germans and Japanese are: there's a reason. There's no "anti-French" conspiracy otherwise brands like Bugatti wouldn't sell.

A Renault Twingo might be a fine car for a French guy, but good luck selling that matchbox to a German, Scandinavian, Austrian or a Russian. Nobody wants it. In Asia they have their own "twingo", the same for Italy (large before the French had the idea of the Twingo: Fiat 500), and so on. That's what gets me sick of most French mentality: always finding excuses/cheating instead of working hard to be better. France has no hope of getting better it'll keep going down the drain like now with people like you who refuse to admit the truth and hide behind excuses. Even today the French keep that mentality: the Rafale is a disaster. They developped a plane for their need and thought the world would buy it because the "French know better". Small agile but limited speed (compared to Russian/US, thus useless at sea or areas you can't use agility) plane for the French territory. They thought they could outsmart the ef2k project but they're stuck with their plane nobody wants thus discounting it so much they're barely making any money. And again I don't care about any brand, I look at specs and price, not at brand nationality/"prestige". And today in all boxes the only French car I'd go for is the new Peugeot 3008 that rocks (except I hope they increased the brake discs diameters Vs previous model). In fact Citroen should disappear and let the Peugeot guys handle the business. They're the only one who went from shitty to acceptable. So in the end my advice to you: wake up from your patriotic dream. Convince others to do so, and fight to make French products betters instead of finding excuses and trying to find faults in others. Improvement comes from within. Make stuff of your own instead of trying to copy the Germans but failing miserably because you're sparing a buck here and here to end up with a mediocre unreliable unfinished car almost the same price as its German counterpart. Even from all the French I've seen, for the same price all but one patriotic guy like you said they'd go for the German car. Another advice to help you wake up: got to German car dealers, check their repair planning (besides from oil change/brake change minor operations), and do the same with a French dealer. You'll notice German dealers have much less work.

VW-TDI Engine its the Best diesel. Passat its phenomenally, peugeot is a toy, quality can not be compared. VW Passat reaches 400,000 km and no breaks. peugeot is 200,000 and everything is defective. just have to look at the prices on the ads.
