Kevin and Jacques are ready for fall! As the garden starts winding down from its summer bounty, they discuss what they learned in this summer's garden. Root-knot nematodes have been a headache for both of them, so they chat about possible solutions. And, of course, they're ready for fall flavor (especially soup season), whether made from oddly shaped end-of-season produce or the first harvests of the cooler season.

Absolutely love these very relaxed hangouts. I make a huge cuppa and get cozy and pretend I’m hanging out with fellow gardeners.

The grocery store near me has a specific section for local heirloom vegetables. It's very refreshing to see lumpy, colorful food instead of boring stuff.

Love the chats and interviews. Expecting our first frost soon here in Wisconsin. I’m trying to overwinter my peppers and eggplants this year. Looking forward to hearing more about growing mushrooms

I got the souper cubes too and love them! they're premeasured 2tbsp, 1/2 cup, 1 cup and 2 cups, so besides saving leftovers, and things like little cubes of tomato paste when you don't need the whole can, they're pretty awesome for things like shredded zucchini for bread or soups in the exact amount your recipe needs. And once out of the molds, they store neatly in ziploc bags taking up minimum space in the freezer. A little pricey, but totally worth it.

This year I planted a full GreenStalk of peppers that I will overwinter for as many years as they will give me (NE FL). The great thing about the GS is if a plant dies, I can just pop in a new one. I'm planting potatoes for the first time this year. I think I will do them in grow bags so that if it's raining a lot before harvest time I can put them under cover. I grow a lot of hot peppers because I love to and use maybe 10% of them. But my family and friends love getting them! And I grow turnips just for my sister. I am growing North Spore mushrooms because of Jacques' videos! Working on my second flush of lions mane. It is my fourth variety so far.

I have a really small garden. What I have learned is plant what I want to eat, and when things slow down, to cut my losses and plant something else. I have a tendency to want to make all plants live forever, but I can't do that. I have to trade things in and out.

I would love to see some mushroom growing guides! I just planted my kale and broccoli in my beds and my fall carrots sprouted in under a week!! Garlic going in this weekend. Happy fall! (Even though it is 90 degrees here today)

"problems" are definitely gifts. Love that. My choice pepper is the shishito. I dont know what it is here in Houston but that first harvest is nice and mild and that later harvest burns. both ends. LOL Love these chats. So much good stuff. Thanks always.

@@ericarose3486 if they make it out of the garden without me eating them, i like to just roast them in my grill pan or on the grill. just olive oil and sea salt. they are my fave!!!

Loved this, thank you! Would love some of those soup and salad recipes...maybe in the email? Fall for me in the garden means cleanup and rest. A senior, zone 5b, small garden that is increasingly in the shade. Cried this year when I pulled the tomatoes though. It's a LONG time until the next fresh tomato. Love Epic and Jacque's channel too.

I'm going to try and bonsai some peppers from seed this winter instead of overwintering them. Should be interesting!

But then, if you sprout your brassicas TOO early, you get rappini putting out a single pathetic flower at 2" tall. 😬
