A very warm welcome to my channel! I am Alison, a fifty-something Witch living in Derbyshire, England.
This week, I’m sharing my favourite Autumn bits and pieces with you. Some of them are things I’ve had for a couple of years but still love to use, and some are new things that I’ve picked up recently. There are homewares, clothes, decor, books and some spooky sweets and treats!

Can you please help a witch mum out please? I’m in Mid Wales. I have an almost 1 year old, 2 year old and a 7 year old and I’m also working. I’m struggling to find time for my own practice. I’ve tried incorporating it into my every day life but I struggle to have time to myself to write, practice divination, meditate etc. I have my items (herbs, crystals, books, candles etc) up out of hands reach but I do miss the energy and happiness my crystals bring me. Could you do a video about the things you did as a mum witch when your children were younger please and any tips for us mum witches now xx blessed be xx

Thank you for sharing your lovely things with us. The bedding you have on your bed is absolutely beautiful! I looked online but it's not available here in the US. I'm going to look for something similar. The pumpkin bedding is also adorable! 🎃 I've heard of the Avaline Jones books, I'll have to give them a read! You do resemble her! I'm very interested in the Wheel Of the Year book, I already put it in my Amazon cart. I really love your little ghost! You're never too old for such things! After watching your review of Wheel of the Year, I downloaded the digital version and am reading the Mabon section. I am not a witch/pagan but I am very aware and attuned with nature and its seasons. I’ve been decorating this weekend for Autumn and Halloween. It’s been a very rainy weekend and the weather has finally gotten a bit cooler. My partner and I live in Nashville, TN in the US. I’ve also been getting my bees prepared for the upcoming cooler weather and winter. It’s my first year of bee keeping. They’ve taught me so much since March when I first got them. Merry Mabon. I completely agree with you, Alison. Horror and gore started taking over with the movie -Halloween- back in the 70s. I HATED it. Slasher movies have no place in this sacred holiday. I’m a highly sensitive introvert and I despise anything like that. Some people “decorate” that way, and it’s completely repugnant to me.

I get that people like different things and that’s fine, but I’ve never fully understood how we came to have evil clowns and axe murderers as symbols of this sacred occasion. And the horrible ‘Psych Ward’ costumes are hugely inappropriate. So I’m determined to keep my celebrations as respectful and kind as I can ☺️

Some of the best people I know have a soft toy support system ❤️ absolutely no shame in that at all. Thank you for sharing your autumn and Halloween goodies with us, lots of inspiration, although I must confess that I have already put my autumn decorations out 🙈 I just couldn't wait 😂. I do absolutely agree with you about shops bringing out seasonal stuff earlier and earlier takes the magic away though. I think sometimes the anticipation and the build up is what makes a celebration so special. Im a bit of an oddball though and actually prefer Christmas Eve to Christmas Day, even as a kid, Christmas Eve had an energy and magic all of its own. I always seem to waffle on in my comments, so apologies! I think its that your videos feel like chatting with a friend and i get too over keen to share my experiences too 😂. Looking forward to the next installment ❤🩷 forgot to mention Snag tights are AWESOME, i have so many pairs, they are the best so comfy and no itchy, scratchiness I second your recommendation 😊

One of the things I love to do is make crafty stuff for Halloween and Yule. I sometimes get things from Hobby Craft and The Works to make, and the September and October issues of Cross Stitcher Magazine and Halloween special issue of Just Cross Stitch are things I look forward to every year, and there is a cross stitch company called Mill Hill that do some nice Halloween and Autumn kits. I find I prefer making decorations rather than buying them because they mean more to you that way, and if there is anything that specific to your tradition, you can have that more easily.

I absolutely agree - I love making decorations, in fact I have an Etsy shop where I actually sell my work! But a lot of my actual decor (which I haven’t shown you yet) is many years old and has a lot of sentimental value for me ☺️

I've really enjoyed watching your video, you made me giggle about sampling the percy pigs extensively 😂I love your haul. I got a great mug from Home Bargains for £3.99 It says I put a spell on you, but I really bought it because it has a snow globe lid that has a witches hat inside and pink glitter lol.

I’ve just began decorating this weekend so this video has been amazing! Thank you. I try to incorporate items I already have (and have had for many years!) and I regularly use anyway. I have to be mindful of decor with a baby, toddler, ADHD 7 year old and an 8 year old large dog. Child and pet friendly decor for me is a must and items I can re use every day or every year. I’m hoping the children will grow up to enjoy them like I did Yule decorations as a child. It’s such a magical time of the year!

Hello Alison, I really enjoyed your video, thank you for sharing your lovely purchases and seasonal goodies!! I too, have a favourite soft toy that brings much comfort to me. It's by the brand Jellycat and I found it in a charity shop years ago for £1, I'm 61 and never ever think it's daft to find comfort in cuddling a lovely soft toy. It's very healing and to me, that's magical xx

As a 70 something witch, your videos delight me! I am not a shopper but love watching hauls and purchases that others make. I missed out on the toadstool tights last year and was so hoping they would have them this year but oh well...maybe next year. I agree about Snag, just perfect.

Hi Alison, as always another great video from you. I haven’t watched it all yet, but wanted to pause it and say before I forget, that if the ghost shaped tea lite holders are without the holes at the top, they could be used with the battery operated tea lites instead. Hobby Craft sell the battery ones and I think B&Q do too. Just a thought which would solve the problem of naked flames too especially if pets or children are around. I have also treated myself to a couple of pairs of tights from Snags, those you showed and a pair with frogs on. I just hope I have sized them correctly as I find that as is the case here, I’m an in between of what they do. I can also see a trip to Asda, Dunelm and Sainsbury’s this week will be on the cards, not forgetting those gorgeous socks from Next. I just hope the Crewe stores have the items in. I like to treat myself around Samhain as my birthday is on 3rd Nov so I have a good excuse. My hubby will no doubt treat me too. By the way I don’t know if you have seen in Hobby Craft the range of pumpkins made from lovely soft material, in all sizes and colours. They range from £1 - £20 for a large cushion sized one. 🎃 🎃 Sorry for waffling, I’ll go back to watching the rest of your video. 😊

That's a great tip! I was also going to suggest putting a mini succulent plant in there. It's so cute, I can't wait to use it. Yes I've seen the pumpkins! My lovely friend actually works in Hobbycraft, and he gave one to me that he'd decorated with a little Witch's hat, and embossed with my channel name!! They are lovely and they come in such gorgeous colours xx

Lovely video Alison. The squishy at the end makes perfect sense, he's tactile and comforting and eases your discomfort, so if it works for you then 👍! I sorted my autumn decor last weekend for Mabon and set my altar ready for some rituals and spellwork last Saturday, however my mother in law passed away that weekend so my spellwork was deferred until last night. She was 93, so a blessing to have had such a long life. I love autumn, my favourite season full of rich colours, warming, comforting self care at home and a cosiness that cocoons our homes and ourselves. I crafted a natural door Wreath for my daughters home, she has a beautiful stable door as her front door and it looks super hanging on it. We also went collecting some pine cones, so they've been washed and are drying nicely to add to my decor once I've soaked them in some orange essential oils, and left a little offering to the woodland in their place. ❤ xx

Oh that’s so lovely. We just love it - it gives us so much joy. The children round here make such an effort! There have been some brilliant costumes but a couple of years ago a little boy turned up in one of those inflatable T-Rex costumes and it nearly ended me - it was so funny. It was far too big for him and he had this little bucket for his sweets and the whole thing was just ridiculous. When I’d picked myself up off the floor and given him his sweetie bag, he turned to walk away but our path is really narrow and his costume was so massive that he had to do a kind of 50-point turn. His Mum and Dad at the end of the path were in pieces. It was worth all the effort just for that moment! 🤣🤣

I live in a rural village in Mid Wales and the children all get together the closest Sunday to Halloween and go trick or treating. Us adults supervise but the children all go together in their costumes. It’s lovely!

Alison, you’re not the only one to like soft cuddly items. I am soon to be 58 and have 2 cuddly sheep on the bed and a chicken. Life’s too short to worry or even care about what people think. I love your little ghost. 👻 Please don’t stop showing us your items. I for one don’t see it as ‘grandstanding’. I am retired now and don’t go out very often due to my health not being too good, my hubby does most of the food shopping too so I hadn’t realised that there are so many nice inexpensive autumnal items available. The last I had a look most seemed to be horror themed and cheap looking. So thank you Alison as you have given me a push to go out this week to have a look for some of the items you have shown. The more I stay at home, the more of a recluse I become and it gets I get anxious about going out. So thank you. 😊❤
