Lovely video and photos Ru, Josh and Hattie; well done all! Have you thought of doing a Flank Farm calendar with the photos; I'd definitely buy one? My favourite thing about autumn is the colours of the leaves and walking on a crisp sunny day. Great to see Frank having so much fun and it made me laugh that he was chomping along with the pigs when Sarah was feeding them!

We’re having a lovely wet summer on the east coast of Australia. No fires and the animals are very happy. Hope it’s all well with you.

Another lovely video. I miss the weekly chats. Thinking that you have probably had some wintery weather this past week, I am sure things have changed quite a lot. Two parts of the video really made me chuckle. First was when your mom was disappointed that the Suffolk lamb was a male and when you said that the reason she loves bringing everything in is because she is a hoarder. I know there are quite a few farm veggie stands that work on the honour system. Usually it works fine, but depends on the location. Farm shops are getting more common, but staffing them would take all the profit. Yes a Christmas video or at least a chat please.

Our Fall has been filled with setting the rams among the ewes, weighing and changing diet so ewes can “grow strong lambies 12 ways”. I finally found a ‘4 wheeler’ that fits my farm and that I can afford. A 30 year old 10hp riding mower with the deck removed and a hitch for small implements and wagons to haul hay, aerate the pastures and clean up the debris that seems to grow out of the soil after sheep graze the fields. My $300 4 wheeler will get e five years down the road until I have saved for the real thing.. The new sheep barn is coming along and only needs siding and we travelled 3800km to pick up our new ewes for breeding and are planning to go back this Spring to get two more breeding rams. The light is not cooperating as we still have 16 hours of work each day but only get 6 hours of light to do it in! My rams sniffed the ewes and promptly decided to head but each other…so wound care and antibiotics treatment three days later they decided to focus on the ewes. Can’t wait for this Spring as it is our first full proper lambing season! I look forward to facing it with the same dedication as ‘mum’! Hard work…it’s a beautiful thing!

I'd love to hear more about 'stocking up' and Sarah's jams and pickles. We've had the wettest spring ever with the usual annual rainfall in the last four months. We have medium clay soils so we're sodden, completely mud bound. We won't get a hay cut this year: the grass is beaten flat and the ground's too soft to put vehicles in the paddock. Hoping for some sun soon

“…Farm Insurance..that covers sickness losses…”. Well THAT’s a new one! I mentioned in to our insurance agent and his response…I quote…was “BWAHAHAHAHA! In..sur….ance……for SICK animals!…..ROFLMAO!….BWAHAHAHAHA!…(or something very close). He said “Well, that’s why you diversify your portfolio and don’t just have one kind of animal…that’s what your savings account and your banks loans are for!”
