It is very easy to fall in love with mountains, more so, when they are majestic like the ones in the Ladakh.
The popular activity in many different parts of countries is chasing fall colors. However, if we talk about India, the scenario is totally different as the season is mostly about drying up leaves except in a few regions.
During tis trip we will ffeel mostly about changing shades of Ladakh. Here, we can witness the colors of autumn. The varieties of colors alone are sufficiently captivating to bait you to Ladakh in fall.
Ladakh translates to Land of the High Passes, and it certainly merits this name with its multitude of towering mountain ranges, river valleys and high plateaus.
We all know that autumn brings a lot of colours to certain countries and chasing autumn colours is a pretty popular activity,
However the change in colours during this season is not as dramatic in the plains
Mostly the leaves dry up and pave way from the dull winter after denuding most of the trees without offering any visual pleasures during the process.
Here, every mountain is of a different colour and the sky looks so blue and close. To experience more of this beauty,
one may choose to come BY road from Srinagar or Manali as starting points.
the breathtaking grand mountains and the monasteries situated on the highest points of the mountains leave you even more mesmerised.
But at the same time, the topography of the region underlines both fragility and challenge. I got a taste of both during my recent ride to Leh Routes over the high passes of Ladakh were established centuries ago by the caravan traders and by the local people.
Fall comes in mid-September and October.
September-October is not considered the best time to visit Ladakh,
the temperature starts to Decrease , the day becomes shorter, and the night s longer.
Kargil, apart from the scenic views and marvelous distinct colors,
Ladakh has some adventure to give to you.
On the way from Leh to Kargil, you will witness pure autumn colors.
The roads flanked rocky mountains and there is grass all over the sides of the mountains.
Alongside the grass, huge trees will catch your eye. When you leave Kargil, there is Wakha river Valley.
From the highway, the color of the river is dark blue, and the distant mountains are little light than blue and dark than the sky.
Perfect to separate the sky, the mountain, and the river. Along the river shore, the trees are yellow, and as we go away, the tree changes its colors from yellow to red to green. The clouds remain white, the sky changes its colors so does the river.
if you want to see the beautiful color-changing poplars, trees, and banks of rivers, you have to sacrifice your comfort zone.
Observing the colors of Ladakh in fall is a breathtaking experience.
Every road, every street, every mountain, every tree, and the lake has its own unique color at different times. Whenever you cross the same place again, you will find diverse colors compared to the same view when you visit for the first time. You can take as many photographs as possible, , but the best colors are enjoyable with your pair of eyes.
