Never thought about combining natto this way. I've seen natto on noodles but not like a natto jiru with these vegetables. Perhaps some kimchi with it would go well as well. Or top the thickened soup over tofu. A hot sandwich maker is so much fun! You can gind so many recipes online on cookwebsites. Sometimes I even put a lunchpack sandwiches in it, especially the savoury ones, though anko and butter will work really well. But you can get so creative with it. I'm thinking of making a okonomiyaki inspired filling since cabbage was in sale at my local supermarket. Or a sweet one with apple :) For me in autumn I look forward to homemade apple pie and kaki fruit. And just the seasonal dishes both western and Japanese. Here kabocha f available is a autumn/winter vegetable so I always hope they have that.

Linna, i love a toasted sandwich as we call it. Don't fasten the lid when using the open griddle plate, just place down loosely and the weight will flatten enough. Close lid if using the waffle, sandwich/ pancake plates though . Hope that helps ❤️

I grew up eating the mallow plant too! Where I am from, it is called molokhia (which is very close to what was written on the bag when you bought it). We make it into a soup/stew also. We cook it down until it is really thick and add lamb (sometimes diced tomato). It is very easy to grow (both in ground and in containers) if you can find seeds. 😊
