Another squad: Distraction Squad. I grabbed several of my friends who also were Zeds and we walked up to humans till we were barely out of range and just did shenanigans. Like bawk like chickens, dance, and with one friend: flirt with their S.O. Anything so humans wouldn't focus on the other zeds sneaking up behind them. One year I did the Pennywise dance and a tank tagged about 5 survivors. Anything to make the game fun. I am bringing my bowler hat and wig because if I become a zed, posh zeds will be a distraction squad... at least with volunteers and my friends.

"Monstering" is a time-honoured tradition in LARP. By providing 'game' for others, its fun for all. Its easier to organise at multi-day festivals where a faction has a monster slot and they attack another faction in the game. Harder when it's just HvZ but I'm sure it's possible to temp switch sides for certain events.

I remember being in a Troll Squad, and after the first mission I just said "Can I just stay as a zombie and be a Super Zombie?" The people running said sure and the only way to stop me was the obvious Mega or higher caliber ammo/socks. Which made it real fun when I found a group and shuffled my way to them when I heard "THE DARTS ARE DOING NOTHING! GET THE BRAIN!" In which they tossed a foam brain/sock away from them and I shuffled towards it.

In your opinion, in the unlikely event a zombie was to catch a sock or other such thrown item would that count as: the human being tagged, or is the zombie be tagged as normal. Of course this would ultimately vary from game to game.

I would argue that a normal Zed would be tagged. A Spitter, however, should be untagged AND allowed to throw the item back.

I have to say, I feel you are doing more for the overall Nerf community than any other KZbinr. Yeah, I want to see what the latest and greatest blaster is and if it lives to the hype, and I want to know how to take my Goodwill Recon and turn it into a sizzling primary. (Actually, I prefer the mod vids because, like you, I get most of my blasters from thrifting.) But what good is having an arsenal of blasters if I have nothing to shoot at? I'm actually trying to learn as much about the organization and rules of hvz and such because there are no games in my immediate area and now I'm interested in potentially hosting one. These vids are providing a valuable resource and having the more advanced crew and tactics goes a long way towards taking a bunch of COD players and such and getting them outside and playing in Nerf battles. Well done, sir!

U of I? Illinois? Man, I would love to attend something like this if it hasnt died out, I saw that Mall Mutation Madness was in St. Charles before and that gave me some hope. I did paintball and airsoft scenarios for at least 15 years. I was there for the insane 3200+ player Oklahoma D-Day game that had a night battle, and two of the William Shatner Splatt Attack games (1500+) in Joliet, Illinois just to name a few. Operated a club in the 5 acre backyard for a couple of years, once had a 60 player game. I feel like I've seen attack ships on fire as far as scenario games go and this sounds like soo much fun I want to get into this! Cant believe I just discovered it! Already seeking stryfes, have a couple of gryphons' printed and making orders from OutOfDarts. You have succeeded you magnificent warrior!

I am (sadly) not able to join the Auxiliary because of my geographical location. However I do see a problem with the Grendel company. What if some people don't mind playing zombie for a few hours at the start but then want to go to to other side and shoot some? Will people in Grendel company get that option or is it just a designated zombie company with no way to actually shoot?

If the game uses a proper "Troll Squad" then you can be part of that, play a Zed for Mission One and the go play a Human. But other than that once you are a Zombie you stay a Zombie. There is no going back. That is how HvZ works.

What other server? They will all he on the same server. Nothing we do in prep will be secret. What would be the point? Humans who turn will have all the Human information anyway. Spying on in Missions Comms is not kosher, however.

Captain Xavier. ok I thought the humans and zombies would be on different servers to allow for pre event strategizing. It’s true that the Zombies will get the human intel when a human is turned but the humans will never get the intel about the Zombies plans.

Beyond basic strategy and organizing there isn't much intel to gather before events since the mission details are not released until right before each mission.

It was a neat mechanic. I have seen noise/light activated zeds, noise/light attracted zeds. One of the best ways to make HvZs interesting is with weird and interesting super zombies.

Not at all. All the mods will need to do is add a Super Zombie that is immune to Rival. Or that is immune to everything until they get a tag. It is not possible to break HvZ as long as the Mod teams is half awake.

Depends on the game. Spitters typically have ranged weapons (socks or a blaster) and can turn or stun Humans with them. Spiders typically involve several Zombies connected to a central Zombie by ropes. You usually either have to stun all the Legs at once to kill the Center or have to stun the Center to be able to stun the Legs. Supers vary from game to game.
