For your tutorial on evasion: I think to remember that at some time it was SOP to try to turn in such a way that you could "hide" behind your chaff - not just let it flutter behind your plane.

AUT is to choose automatically between UP and DOWN. Not for the programs. That will be on the DDI once implemented.

The RWR shows the air threats as Mig29’s yet the f10 map shown them as SU 27’s?
@mariushusejacobsen32216 жыл бұрын
Su27 apparently uses the same radar as the Mig29. The RWR can recognize the radar type, but doesn't know what kind of plane carries the radar. Heck, if you mounted it on a truck, it would still send out the same signals for the rwr to interpret.
@JustChasingRainbows6 жыл бұрын
Marius Huse Jacobsen thought that would be the case though a mig 29 radar mounted on a truck would lead to a interest decoy...

@@mariushusejacobsen3221 Mount that radar on a Cessna. Send a thousand Cessnas with just the radar. Suddenly someone's gonna start tearing their hair out at the sight of a thousand MiGs...
@mariushusejacobsen32216 жыл бұрын
I think it'd be a bit over the weight limit for a cessna... but who said you needed the whole radar? Power source, suitable antenna, signal generator programmed to send mig29 radar signals. You do need a good power source, a good antenna suitable for the purpose, and a signal generator to match what the mig29 radar sends out - but if you don't care about the returns, you can pretty much skip the rest. The power source is possibly still over what a cessna can provide, unless you're happy with having a very short range. You may also want it unmanned. Better yet, many recently built cars already have the hardware, all you need is to replace the firmware, by update or by hack. And one could optimize the hardware for better performance in doing this. Maybe some already did? American cars could suddenly start spamming the airwaves with decoy american radars if they're within a certain area they intend to operate in. It's all one firmware update, and one trigger (gps clock reaching a certain time?) away. Also, look into passive radar - as opposed to radar intercept. Basically, you take the a signal (e.g. public radio broadcast) from a known point, typically on the ground, and you look for that signal from other directions - things that signal has bounced off of.
@SGTcz90cz6 жыл бұрын
@@mariushusejacobsen3221 That sounds like a brilliant defence plan. When the enemy attacks your country, put such radar upgrades on a couple thousand cars in every AO and the enemy will be overwhelmed.

I know this is an older video, but your understanding of where the radar symbols appear in the circles may be incorrect. Your assumption in the video is that the closer the symbol is to the center, the stronger the radiation signal. That's not accurate, at least according to the Chuck's Guide. The middle ring is the lethal threat ring. The inner ring is the critical ring, which is less dangerous than the lethal ring. The outer ring is the "safe" ring. This is of course, assuming that Chuck's guide is accurate.
