you gotta keep in mind that one of the best australian producers of all time, robbie chater, has been at the helm of the avalanches in terms of production since SILY (fans give darren way too much credit imo, even if he was great too). the utter beauty he implements into every record never really ceases no matter how much they change their sound.

The whole album has this optimism that feels so much more earned and honest because it still acknowledges this kind of melancholy sadness and darkness. Basically the music is sad sometimes but it still makes me hopeful somehow. I like how you put it.

@@235T1NGR4Y23 Right. I love it. Andrew genuinely sounds like he's hearbrokenly reminiscing about a faded love of his. The juxtaposition of that against the upbeat, wonderous instrumental, along with the video that quite literally induces a sense of childlike wonder about the universe - it just authentically covers so many aspects of life on our blue little marble that it really makes you take a look back and go "you know what, bitter or sweet, this experience might be worth it after all". To be honest, I initially only came here for MGMT. But this is such an outstanding project that I think I'll stay for The Avalanches.

This makes me wanna cry, but I can't. Not because of the lyrics, the way it makes me feel and how it sounds. It gives me the feels of interstellar that so much time has passed by and how the even the kids are singing about how stars and songs are changing in a way. This just makes me feel so weird and almost depressed in a way

The subject matter of the lyrics is so grounded. They illustrate the recognition of the person you were FOR someone else. "and now the stars are rearranging" The conept of 'star crossed lovers' is now changing, what is seen as a done deal by the heavens is now gone. Aside from that they dip so well into the beauty that great music shoudl always attempt to. I feel energy in the part of my heart that one would wish would always feel warm true attention. Graceful is how I would describe the most prominent qualities of some of The Avalanches greatest works.
