This was definitely worth the 13 years wait in my opinion. James Cameron should set up a museum of all the different props and cameras that he shot or used to film his historic movies. He should call it "Cameron's Cameras and More"

Worth it in terms of quality of the cgi & especially realistic water effects? Definitely YES. But definitely not in terms of the story. When a cgi whale is the best character in your movie then you definitely have a problem. But maybe he wanted to show how much important the environment especially underwater life is. Then i can understand the story but still underwhelming.

It looks so good that it makes you think it was actually filmed in the sea somewhere until you realize none of the sea life swimming around are real creatures. It truly is amazing. Compare the visuals of this film to any marvel film and the cgi in those films don’t even come close.

just to kind off answer your question in regards to wether or not Grace is alive, she is not but her avatar is. Her avatar is a completely separate body from her, and it suffered no damage in the first movie. It just has no consciousness of its own so without Grace to connect to it its essentially braindead, but still very much alive! :)

28:39 I loved the simple detail of how the tulkun(aka just a cgi whale) has 4 eyes showing that they are the most intelligent & strongest living thing on that planet. (just like mythologies where the higher beings have 4 & 6 eyes say for example in the eternals movie)
