AMPs are definitely one of the most badass mech suits in SciFi for this very reason. Everything is well thought out and given incredible care to fit its exact role in the film. It probably didn't need this level of detail, but clearly its creators had just as much love the human machinery as they did for the alien flora and fauna. It both clashes and comes together perfectly.

I love the design of this thing. It's basically a headless body, with the pilot operating from within the "chest" area, so the arms have to be held higher to approximate their position on the human body. The little details tell you someone really did sit down and think about how this thing would work. The increased space in the cockpit to accommodate the movement of the pilot's arms, the window behind the pilot's head with mirrors to look back through it, and the tank-sized weaponry that's similar enough in function to feel like a giant rifle and knife. The custom paint and "nose art" on some of these suits also really fits the aesthetic they were going for in this movie. The fact that the Tone 30mm cannon in Titanfall operates and sounds very similar to this badass machine definitely has nothing to do with the fact that I mained it for as long as I played.

Nearly everything about this film's world design feel incredibly well thought out. It's a believable interpretation of a near-Earth environment with atmospheric hazards and oversized life forms. Say what you want about the movies themselves, good god are the vehicles cool. The AMP is easily my favourite mech design for numerous reasons stated bellow, the Samson (funky helicopter) is easily one of my favourite aircraft designs as are the Dragon and the shuttle! Everything in these combine practicality, realism and sci-fi future tech and balance it so well. And with the added little details like the knife and bayonet on the AMP being sub optimal for their intended use just cause the buyers thought the "Spec Ops" design looked cooler, which also does happen in real life! It all has that "marketing" feel to it. Like yeah, we can make it work, but we also have to make it look good while working so people will want to buy it. Just brilliant work on world building. Despite merely spending minutes on earth, and that being in a little room, I feel like I've got a very clear idea of what kind of work it is on there, just from the designs of the vehicles and gear they're using.

Is the person piloting the BA an Elemental? Because if thats the case and you get them screaming about honor, the Na'vi are going to have a very very VERY bad time. Also, most BA is the opposite of the AMP; rather than the huge open space where the pilot sits, the suits form fitting, with as little open space as possible, fitting it original intention as an underwater mining suit.
@tba1132 жыл бұрын
Clan Elemental battle armor was designed specifically for warfare, came with high-power energy weapons, guided missiles, and jump jets as standard, had no problem taking a burst of .50 cal full to the chest, and extrude a thick layer of harjel to seal any breaches in the armor when damaged. By comparison, AMP suits were ruggedized forklifts with a mostly-glass cockpit and armed with whatever weapons could fit in their hands. I love the thought and practicality that went into the AMP suit's design, but Battle Armors are a very different beast.
