I always just thought he was hiding his identity for the obvious reasons of not tying his actions back to Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation. @tsukimilo Жыл бұрын
Not only that, but Zuko is always trying to be a person worthy of his father, the Blue Spirit is the complete opposite of that, someone who his mother would be proud of, even if the reasons for his actions are not always the most moral. 56:22 azula has several humanizing if not redeeming qualities that make her a rounded character. She is shown to value Mai and Ty Lee having thrones built for them in the drill. She did it in an Azula way but she did it when no one else seemed to realize it.
@ArasRud Жыл бұрын
Putting Zuko and Mai together is more of manipulating both at the same time kind of things, not really caring about their happiness, She basically puts Mai in danger in the flashback and exploits Zuko's tendencies to help others just to humiliate both and show who the real boss is. SPOILER ... she also uses Mai to make Zuko what she wants in the comics twice. But I agree on the fact that she values the people around her as long as they are under her control and prais her, not for who they are, but for how usefull they are to her.

I’m struggling to understand her “redeeming qualities”. She’s a product of Ozais abuse so she’s a very tragic person but tragic doesn’t = good. I think it’s important to view Jet as the tragic character that he is. That’s not to excuse the bad things he has done, but he represents how the trauma of war shapes people. He is in many ways comparable to Zuko, except that while Zuko had Iroh, Jet had no adults watching out for him. And the saddest part of his story is that while he viewed the Fire Nation as his one true enemy and let himself be consumed by the fear and hatred he had for them, it was ultimately the Earth Kingdom, his own people, that killed him. He tried to start a new life in Ba Sing Se, a place where he thought he could safely move on from his trauma, but the city became his tomb.

This was a show aimed at kids and it aired on a children's network. They could not depict Jet's death, but they did confirm that he died here. That won't be addressed in the show, however.

when fans first got to episode 17 when it was airing live, it had been 6 months since we had lost appa at the library. We had to wait 6 months for a reunion. Every episode it was "okay this episode right?"

Tales of Ba Sing Se gets a lot of attention because of the out of the blue thunder punch to the feelings that is Leaves From the Vine, but Appas Lost Days is emotional damage start to finish.

They say Aang is the last Airbender which isn’t actually true. Appa is an airbender too, it’s how he flys.

@@Matuse I clearly didn’t say that. There were plenty of airbenders, both Air Nomads and sky bisons before the war. Appa is an Airbender too.

I think the young man represents Iroh right before/at the time of when he lost his son. The little boy was his son before he got involved with the war and the teenagers playing the game is him and his son at war but it’s almost a game to them. I believe that iroh had just breached the outer wall and subsequently fighting takes his son’s life. The boys break the window and the big man comes to retaliate and they separate while running away. He helps others the way he wishes he could help his son and himself.

25:46 Many people have a hard time telling the Air Temples apart... This is the Eastern Air Temple, near the Earth Kingdom... This is Where Appa is from... Aang is from the Southern Air Temple, near the South Pole where Sokka and Katara are from... The Northern Air Temple is near the North Pole, it's where the Mechanist and the Air-Walkers set up refuge and is the last place the protagonists visited before they made contact with the Northern Water Tribe...

Lake Laogai is another real life reference! It's a reference to láodòng gǎizào (劳动改造), or "reform through labor". In other words prison work camps in China.

That’s the last time you’ll see jet. He’s dead. That attack probably broke all his ribs most likely causing internal bleeding and punctures. But Nickelodeon can’t outright show or make death obvious so they leave it a little hints. Like “this isn’t good” “he’s lying” “you’ve chosen your own demise”

What I love about Avatar is they took time to give us antagonist from all nations not just the fire nation. Showing us that yeah fire nation is bad now not it could easily be the earth kingdom being tyrants

When Iroh asked Zuko “if it was his own destiny, or one that someone else tried to force on you” he was speaking from experience. Since the day Iroh was born he was told how he would be the next fire lord and that he would be the one to conquer the world. Since the day he was born he was forced down a destiny his family put on him down eventually causing the death of his son. At that point he realized all the pain and damage following the forced destiny would continue to cause if he kept trying to force something that was never meant to be. Only he could. He chose to be himself from then on, he was no longer involved with the military other than an advisor at war meetings. He found a way into the spirit world where he reached somewhat enlightenment. He followed his own path to get there. He fully understands where zuko is coming from because he also had a destiny forced onto him that he could not accomplish and he learned how to move past it. He wants zuko to as well.

Imagine having Uncle Iroh actually yelling at you. I'm sure that really shook Zuko. How could he not look inward on a very serious level, if even for a moment, and do the right thing.

what good story telling this show is. I remember when i watched appa's lost days for the first time I cried the whole episode, it was badddd. Then I cried when he was reunited with aang. Lots of crying lol. glad you made it through! Iroh yelling at zuko is so shocking when it happens. You don't expect it but he's finally just had enough.
