ஐயா நான் 1969லிருந்து 1974 வரை சென்னை மயிலாப்பூரில் தங்கி என் கல்லூரி படிப்பை முடித்த கால கட்டத்தில் சென்னையில் என் கால் படாத இடம் கூடியவரை இருக்காது. கல்லூரி ஆஸ்டலிலிருந்து நடந்தே சாந்தோம் பீச் செல்வோம். Body guard முனீஸ்வரர் கோவிலுக்கு நான் பல முறை சென்றுள்ளேன். எலியட் பீச் என்று திருவான்மியூர் தாண்டி உள்ளது. கபாலி தியேட்டர், காமதேனு தியேட்டர் மற்றும் மவுண்ட் ரோட்டிலுள்ள அத்தனை தியேட்டர்களும் அத்துபடி. ஒருகாலகட்டத்தில் சென்னையே எங்கள் கட்டுப் பாட்டில் உள்ளதாக நாங்களே நினைத்துக் கொள்வோம். 21 வயதில் அரசு அதிகாரியாக பணியில் சேர்ந்து அதே சென்னையில் 15 வருடத்திற்கு மேல் பணியாற்றி கர்நாடகா, ஆந்திரா UP மற்றும் பல மாநிலங்களில் பணியாற்றி கடந்த 2007ல் விருப்ப ஓய்வு பெற்று நான் பிறந்த திருவாரூர் மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள திருத்துறைப்பூண்டி அருகில் உள்ள என் சொந்த கிராமத்தில் குடும்பத்துடன் தங்கிவிட்டேன். சென்னை என்னை வளர்த்து வழிகாட்டிய ஊர். சென்னை நீடூடி வாழ்க.

There is a scientific explanation for the formation of beach which the presenter touched upon briefly. The currents in Bay of Bengal go from south to north. During this process, they deposit sediments, in this case on its shore. Once the flow of the stream is interrupted , the rate of deposit of the sand will accelerate, south of the interruption. The construction of harbor interrupted the stream. Hence large sandy beaches were formed south of it. The interruption has another effect as well. The interruption caused by the jutting harbor would reduce the deposits north of the interruption. That is the reason, the seashore north of the harbor has no sandy patches. At some distance from this interruption, the sandy beach will start to appear again...

If this is true, case of Pondicherry is different. Port is in south side. Beach is in north side. There was a sandy beach 40 years before in the North of port. It varnished slowly, because port became muddy and its depth got reduced. When recently port was deepened, old sandy beach reappeared. Interesting !

@@kanmaniramamoorthy3730 it cannot be different since the current moves from south to north. Once there is an abutment into the sea, for a port, the the northern side will have no deposits. South of the abutment , the sandy surface will be stable and increase.

Due to this artificial port formation in Chennai PORT and native Chennai people lost their agriculture land near by seashore. This is bitter true. & its clearly a human interruption against nature formation....☹☹☹☹☹☹☹

Growing up with trams, Marina, Zoo and Museum ...yes glorious years. Marina had ankle deep sand and you could hear the waves long before you alighted from the red and cream bus.

The beach near Gandhi statue is my favourite spot when I was Five years old in 1950.Still I remember the mobile canteen which serves food in the evening. Less crowd more pleasure. I missed this in 1952 due to Andhra seperate movement, only to return in1969. Beauty of My Madras is lost, sorry to say that I can’t get now in Chennai

Absolutely right sir becoz of chennai harbor the north madras beach was demolished totally and so many residential area filled with sea. I am one of the victim which suffer becoz of this. Chennai harbor should removed from the place before i died, i want to see north madras like before which it has his own beauty with beautiful beach. Now i am 38 years old in my child hood there is beach which i played. Now i had only memories.
