Avelino is in my opinion the most immediately accessible UK artist for Americans due to his clarity and style.

Great reaction. Lex is spot on - his lyricism is dense with layers. You'll hear something new every time you listen to it because there are so many clever schemes and double & triple entendres. Might be a good idea to do Wretch's Daily Duppy (Redemption) next. It's not too long after his 1st FITB and the animation really helps to understand what he is doing with his words; it actually helped me understand (in part) how clever he is and attuned my ear to his lyricism. Well done bruv(s) 👊🏾🖤

"I can't swim but i'll be the anchor for the scene" . To many people sleep on that bar! What happens when you can't swim? You sink right? What does an anchor do? It sinks to the bottom of the water to hold the ship in place. So he is basically saying that even when he sinks (falls) he will still hold it down.

The part about the brits was referring to the fact for so many years there was a lack of representation for our culture at the brit awards, especially with rappers in the grime scene like Wretch despite being around for years many artists never got the acknowledgement at awards shows they deserved, bar one or two like Dizzee rascal, mainly because the organisers are posh and out of touch. It’s the same with mainstream radio here, only in recent years have they started getting a lot more plays. The year Stormzy performed it was a breakthrough moment, and it made Dave’s performance of Black last year even more needed and significant, which is why it got so many complaints from eediyats. It was one of the first years there was real representation finally in all categories. Great reactions btw love your content 👊🏾💯

When Wretch says “We all got bars but nobody here’s a brewer, bringing sandwich to the beach in the hope of finding tuna,” he’s saying that rappers have bars, wordplay, etcetera, but the content is missing. They have fancy bars, but no actual content is being made to be served in the bars. And the. Bringing sandwich to the beach in the hope of finding tuna, he’s saying they expect have meaning in their tracks, but it takes more than just the “ sandwich”
