I like Ave McCree but Pete Rock is a GOD. You can't critique his beats. When he was making beats there was no knowledge base or KZbin to learn from. Also his knowledge and exposure to Jazz records. Man this is something that you should not be doing. Back then he had to make his own drum kits not like the ones everybody downloads now. He's a pioneer. and time stretching wasn't as easy as it is now the MPC wasn't like the MPC we know today. Anybody can buy a MPC today and make beats but they are not doing what Pete Rock did

I say let'em know about the MPC 2000XL. I bought one at the beginning of the year and left the Maschine. I haven't looked back since. It's a whole different expereicne working on the 2000XL. It really teaches you how to get the most out of what you sample and live with it to come up with something dope. With the new machines we can make tracks very quick however, we are giving up the full substance a sample can carry off of a record. My opinion if you're a sample based beat maker... is that you have to become a good curator of music and this just further helps with that skill. The last thing about the XL is the tone it gives off too. One thing I noticed that is greatly missed these days when we make music, is the texture of music.
@towerrunner46752 жыл бұрын
I think you made two important points. Limitations make people think (and taking care) about their samples, compared to the endless space of a DAW. And older hardware samplers have unique sound that gives all tones a connecting texture.
