Avene Mineral Sunscreen Review

Hi Kelly this is one of my favourites and a go to for me. Here in the UK it's a bit more affordable than it is in the US and I can usually get it for around £15 (the full price is £18). Just so people are aware the tinted version is quite dark and will only work for perhaps a medium/tan onwards. I'm a fitzpatrick one with blonde hair, so it has barely any white cast on me once it has dried down/settled on the skin. I haven't really noted a scent, but I only use fragrance free skincare and am used to the smell of ingredients as such. I have both rosacea and eczema, so I really struggle with chemical spfs and this one is gentle on my skin. I do get some dryness from it (as I do with all mineral spfs), but it's less than many others I have tried. It's quite similar in texture to the skinceuticals mineral spf50, but a bit less moisturising on the skin. It's the one I always have on hand due to the price and performance, even when I'm testing out others. I've just ordered the colourscience classic spf50 to try and I'll report back on how it works on my dry and hypersensitive skin lol. Best wishes.

@@a.a.12945 Hi it was ok on me, but the shade wasn't great and I had to mix it (I used it as a tinted moisturiser tbh as a full spf application was far too dark). It didn't break me out and I didn't find it overly drying. I also tried the Bioderma mineral spf, but it was super greasy and unwearable in the warmer months on the face. I'm currently using ultrasun btw and have been for months. It's a hybrid and for some reason my skin doesn't hate it, so it's been working well. All mineral spf's are a bit drying on me - I have to wear moisturiser under every single one. I hope that helps.

Kelly have you tried the Undefined R&R sun serum sunscreen? It's SPF 50 mineral sunscreen with water resistance. It has a tint and it's wonderful. It's my new favorite!

I tried the tinted version of the Avene sunscreen and couldn't use it. The tint is very orange for fair skin, I had to give it to my sister who is much more tan. I also found the formula to be pretty greasy on my skin, but I just tried the tinted one. For some reason mineral sunscreens get extra greasy and moisturizing on my skin, I hardly ever find them drying. So if that's like you, you might find this one too greasy. I also live in a hot and humid environment so I know all about those sunscreen sweat bubbles! Especially on my upper lip. Sweat resistant sunscreen is so important to me! I'm really loving the mineral eltamd sunscreens (uv physical and uv elements), and I'm also loving the new undefined R&r sun serum!

I love when we get an extra video from you during the week! Tuesdays and Thursday nights are my favorite, because before bed and after I wash my face, I set up a tray table of skincare on my bed, where I’ll sit relax, turn on your new video(s), and rewatch older ones after too, while I do my nightly routine! I used to call it my “Zen Night”, because your videos always relax me, but my 7yo son would always ask me “Mommy, is it Kelly Night tonight?” and that stuck… So Tue & Thurs nights are officially “Kelly Night” in my house, and I’m excited to get a 3rd one this week! i just tried this today and i'm SO impressed. i have so many dealbreakers and this passed the test. most mineral sunscreens suck the life out of my skin and this is one of the least drying i've used!

I love the tinted version! Truly an all in one product for me. I have oily acne prone skin and live in a hot/humid environment. Many tinted sunscreens are way too light for me, but thankfully this one is darker and not as pink/purple as others. (I'm around MAC NC42.) I am thankful you mentioned the odd smell, it's the only thing that bothers me but I'm glad it's brief. Definitely one of my favorite mineral sunscreens.

I like Avene, but the sunscreen didn't work for me. It irritates my skin. I still have it, but I use it for my neck. I don't want to waste it because it is pricy.

I’m a light-medium (in foundation shade, for shade reference), I applied three fingers worth of this and it did have a white cast. So much so that I had to apply a little bit of the tinted version on top of it. The formula is beautiful, though, so I can’t stop using it.

I loooove this sunscreen. After using it for 2 weeks i noticed my skin was glowing. I have recently been trying other brands but i cant wait to buy this again. I also wore it for 3 weeks in Jamaica, NEVER reapplied after my morning application and got zero tan lol.

Every chemical sunscreen I use whether it has alcohol or alcohol, fragrance EO free they my eyes burn. I was using canmake with Vanicream SPF lip balm around my eyes HOWEVER, my eyes got dry and felt uncomfortable as the day went on. My eyelashes were sticking together too. Just unpleasant. So. Right now I'm really stuck. All mineral sunscreens like you dry out my face bad. I'm actually avoiding going outside because I'm at loss. Maybe. Just maybe this won't irritate my eyes. I absolutely loved this video! ❤️🙏

Hi, you should try hybrid suncreens they tend to no sting the eyes. The new one from Purito does not have this drying effect you're talking about, should give it a try. I also have very sensitive eyes.

Can’t believe it, a video dedicated to one single sunscreen. But if it’s Kelly’s video, the item must surely be good. Kelly, what if you are allergic to silicone? I am not able to find any sunscreen without silicone thus far... demithicone, caprylyl methicone, silica... I give up to be honest to find a sunscreen without silicone.

I tried the tinted one and it was horrible, it was so dark and oily, did not absorb and was like oil paint on my face. I binned it, it was staining all my clothes as well, worst sunscreen

I honestly didn’t feel this was drying. It felt more of moisturizing side. I have normal to dry skin and I am currently using the Summer fridays one and it feels a bit drying on my skin. I had a mini sample of this one and it almost felt like a very moisturizing cream but not oily.
