I always love the double Avenged Sevenfold uploads. They make every week so much better. 😌 This song is definitely a hyperbolic metaphor for touring life. Playing shows all around the world and coming home to Huntington Beach to spend personal time with loved ones. Like the rest of Hail to the King, it's got the classic 80s metal themes like warfare and kings and demons and all that cool stuff. The blueprint song that inspired this one sonically is The Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden. Not quite hair/glam metal, but OG New Wave of British Heavy Metal, which inspired glam metal and power metal. A7X went back 30 years into metal's origins. Iron Maiden is usually an influence on Avenged Sevenfold, but in this case, the drums aren't wild with blast beats and there aren't many of those darker scales on guitar, so it sounds more like the pure, stripped-back early 80s influence than a 21st century metal song, if that makes sense. Avenged Sevenfold cut back on their Avenged Sevenfolding so the new fans would dig the way metal used to sound, and it totally worked. The outro solo that fades was played by the legendary Brian Haner Sr, Papa Gates. I hope you enjoyed those wings, Randi. 😊

You finally reacted to a great song :0 This song is from the album Hail To The King 2013. A fairly controversial album for having a classic Heavy Metal style. The same band said this album was a tribute to all the bands that inspired them, unfortunately no one saw it well. They all hated Avenged Sevenfold for "copying" the style of other big bands from classic heavy metal.

Personally, I feel Shepherd of Fire, Requiem, Acid Rain, and this song are incredible. Easily in their top 25 songs.

@@chrismeadows4216 The word that people use to define the album Hail To The King is "generic", but I think it has some of the best songs of the band. In my opinion it has forgettable songs like Crimson Day or This Means War but they are not bad songs. Shepherd of Fire, Acid Rain, and Coming Home are certainly amazing. Requiem is not one of my favorites but I also enjoy it.
@chrismeadows42163 жыл бұрын
@@a7x-yt485 Generic is what they were going for, really. Foundational styles were the trademarks of the album, so it naturally had to sound like things that were already done. I don't think that makes it worse. Just harder for people who want more of the dynamics that make Avenged Sevenfold songs traditionally more beefy and unique.
@a7x-yt4853 жыл бұрын
@@chrismeadows4216 Many people were bothered by this. Even artists criticized the band because they understood that it was plagiarism or an effortless attempt to grow in popularity, compared to their other albums. For me this is not so. They obviously looked at their influences to perform the songs, even more than on other albums, but they still managed to create unique songs. For example, Shepherd of Fire is often said to be a copy of 'Enter Sandman' and although they have a similar structure, they are not alike in anything else. And nobody gets mad, but I prefer Shepherd of Fire.
@chrismeadows42163 жыл бұрын
@@a7x-yt485 Exactly. The qualities that make Enter Sandman a great song are there, but they only used the dynamics, not the notes. This Means War doesn't play anything like Sad But True, and Heretic doesn't play like Symphony of Destruction. Doing Time is the only song on the album that's so direct. People say It's So Easy is the template song because they're not familiar with the GNR discography. The intro is actually almost directly Back Off B**ch.

Love it, love it love it !!!! The heavy Maiden vibe was awesome, so similar to their 2nd and 3rd albums, about the time Bruce took the lead. A massive compliment to Maiden to have a song this good in a similar style. Being referred to as "hair metal. we know as NWOBHM (New wave of british heavy metal) that ran through the '80's. My favourite Scorpions song is "In trance". Lot's of memories come back from hearing that one. I drifted again. Back to today. An absolutely brilliant song right through to the last note. I can't find any criticism at all. It's not possible to improve on perfection. It's juts that ridiculous rule from you tube that won't allow you to play the completed article, making you brake it into little bits. It's like having a favourite meal laid out in front of us and denying us the right to have to tastes at the same time, rendering the meal ruined. You can show you tube my views if you like. I wont hold back the truth with sweat talking pretty words. (That's why I'm not popular in law courts, the put their PC where the sun don't shine). Oh dear, I'm drifting again. I really do want this to be a happy new year, not a miserable moaning one. Next step, try harder...LOL I do love this song..
