This song is very beautiful narratively. It's about a guy who gets killed by one of his best friends and comes back as a spirit to see everyone grieve for him. The radiant eclipse is a brilliant contrast. His life is eclipsed and thrown into shadow, but his soul jumps from his body and envelopes everything around it. He's trying to come to terms with his death and move on into the afterlife. The lack of a solo is cool and uncommon. I love Matt's clean vocals on the chorus because of the clarity in them, and I can't remember if it was a song I loved immediately. I didn't adjust to the early albums easily, so probably not, but the vocals all around are really cool. It's a good song to have ended the normal album off with. The ending is very Guns N' Roses. The way he harmonized, the way he held onto the notes and descended. Rocket Queen and Don't Cry and other songs like that. Matt's Axl worship is one of my favorite things. I wish they'd played this song live at least once, but sadly, they have not. An underappreciated gem. 🥰💙

Just had my mind dug up, and hall back to Gun and Roses and the Appetite for Destruction album, and even further back to the time of Lynyrd Skynyrd at the top of their game. Yet still being planted in the here and now. Oh Boy, that's so good, so heavy, and so right. Just loved that menacing pace of the those intimidating rhythm guitar strokes. They delivered the atmosphere through out. All of it was excellent really, but that's what stood out to me.
