As a guitar player, Synyster and Zacky are two of my idols. Every time the band comes out with something new, the first thing I listen for is the guitar. That being said, I cannot get over how good Brooks is. I truly think he makes some of the songs with his playing. Each of these behind the scenes videos makes me appreciate him more and more.

Matt has answered the voice change question a bunch already. He said he took out a lot of the rasp on purpose (and the rasp he uses now comes from a different place than it used to). When Avenged was playing hour long shows he was able to go all out with his voice with the rasp and screaming. Now that they play hour and a half to 2 hour shows he needs to take care of his voice better. So he did rehabilitate his voice, like you said he needed to; it just sounds a little bit different.

Ry Guy Man i thought it's only me to realize that.. M. Shadows rasp changed since Nightmare. Sounds like he changed his technique on producing that voice.. Pre nightmare rasp is kinda like phil anselmo very rough kind of rasp while nightmare and the later album rasp sounds like chris cornell crunchier kind of rasp.. I don't know if there's any other singer to describe but those two i mentioned are the ones that i can think of to explain the difference..
