No shock treatment here. Just more great A7X. One of the most melodic songs I've heard from them. Interesting changes in Matt's singing, rough and aggressive, to fairly mild a few times. That doesn't happen in many songs, no matter who's music we listen to.

This song is an enigma. It's one of the most obvious singles and had its own b-sides, yet most people forget it's a single. I'm surprised it wasn't requested early on. It's an absolute banger. The Rev composed most of the rhythms for this song when he was still alive. Mike Portnoy recorded them, obviously. It's about the futility of living, to put it bluntly. Mortality is going to catch up to all of us. It's morbid, but I suppose that realism is more comforting than anything flowery. What I love most about this song is definitely the chorus. The guitars are playing sea shanty melodies. It's very piratey, and I think that's neat. 🥰

Yeah the Nightmare Album is epic IMO. It has a more proggy/technical feel. I think when Mike Portnoy (Rev’s Idol) stepped in to help, he really had an impact on the production and feel on all the songs on Nightmare.
