Avenged Sevenfold definitely do have a 90s heavy metal vibe in their songs but the extremely shreddy solos and blast beat sort of drumming in songs like Afterlife, beast, Second heartbeat, and all songs from The Stage, present a more authentic plus current era progressive metal feel... though not progressive metal exactly... vibe.

I recently started listening to A7F. I found out I was missing out on a lot of good music. The first I had heard of you was during my tours in Iraq, when we heard you were performing at other FOBs. Since we were out of the loop on those shows, I didn’t think about A7F until recently. I started with Hail to the King and have gone on to listen to a lot of your music. Amazing stuff. I would put you in my top 5 bands of all time (I’m 54, so I’ve listened to a few). I would put A7F on my list of concerts to see, the only other being Rammstein, another group with a great combination of driving drums and bass and two lead guitars. However, seeing as I have a real problem with large groups, that will not come to fruition, but I can listen to A7F on 10 as much as I please. Thanks for your great music and performances.

God, it's so pathetic to see those people try to convince themselves that their opinion is a fact. I personally love waking up to an Avenged Sevenfold song stuck in my head, you guys give me a ton of motivation and ambition (even if some of your songs may have a darker meaning) the style and the voice of Avenged Sevenfold is absolutely amazing. This is the band that got me into metal, right after I listened to Nightmare I couldn't stop listening to them and it immediately became my favorite band. (It's hard for me to get a top favorite band, it used to be Mother Mother, which was my favorite for multiple years) There's just Something about Avenged Sevenfold Something that always puts me in a good mood, not to mention if I'm stressed or frustrated listening to them always calms me down. I hope I'll be able to see you guys in August if so It'll be the first concert I've been too. Can't wait for more music!

OH MY GOD SYNYSTER GATES IS BACK TO HIS OLD LOOK!!! Also, about the A7X/Metallica similarities, they were almost exclusive to the Hail to the King album. This Means War even seemed like it used Sad But True's click track. And the title song Hail to the King was very similar to Enter Sandman, primarily due to the progression and drums. As a guitarist, I can say the similarities are too minimal to be "copied" from Metallica. Hail to the King and This Means War's rhythm guitar riffs were similar to those of Sad But True and Enter Sandman only in regards to the number of power chords used in the riff and how they matched up with each other's drum tracks. I was first exposed to metal music in Call of Duty: Black Ops when it had just come out. I was in a zombies game and found the hidden song "115" by Elena Siegman and later on I found Avenged Sevenfold's "Not Ready to Die" and "Nightmare" songs in the Call of the Dead and Moon DLC zombies maps. From there I got way into Avenged Sevenfold and later into Metallica. I heard very little, if any similarities between the two bands. The style and overall feel of them are different. The Rev's drum style was so complex and I could even almost feel how much he enjoyed drumming. And with Metallica, Lars' drum style is far simpler, opting for power over complexity, conveying an "in-the-moment" feeling. But that's just me. Avenged Sevenfold is the reason I picked up a guitar. I love both Avenged Sevenfold and Metallica. I'm sure that if anyone in A7X personally asked Metallica of their opinion on these similarities, I'm sure Metallica would hear their influence, but not any form of "plagarism." Rant over.
