Diamonds In The Rough was originally released on CD in 2008 as part of the DVD+CD release “Live in the LBC/Diamonds in the Rough”. It is a compilation of b-sides recorded during the making of the band’s self-titled 2007 debut, rarities, covers and other non-album tracks. The 2020 vinyl and digital release of the album has been remastered and is expanded by 5 tracks, featuring the unreleased track “Set Me Free” (recorded during the “Hail To The King” sessions). It also includes other hard-to-find tracks such as the fan-favorite “St, James”, “4AM” and “Lost It All”. The 16 track album also includes the band’s cover of Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid”, which originally came out in 2009 on the Warner Bros album “Covered”. The vinyl is released on limited edition clear vinyl.

This is one of my favorite Avenged Sevenfold songs. That's saying a lot because I've been a fan for roughly 20 years. It's such a beautiful song. M. Shadows lyrics tug on the heartstrings while Synyster Gates guitar playing pierces your soul. With every album and every single that A7X releases, I'm always in awe of how much talent they possess in one band. Nobody could ever replace The Rev, but Brooks has done a damn good job of bringing his own drumming style. 🖤

I remember when my friend my died Sept 1st 2013 ,it was a almost 2 weeks after avenged sevenfold released hail to the king and I remembered the first time I heard st James it was the day after he died. And the song hit me hard, for one his middle name was James even tho I knew the song is about the rev. But in a away I felt the song was for him to and I was obsessed with that song the rest of 2013 . ​@@lancer717 for me its just too many things my mind has to process, Before I go into public I have anxiety. Its like that feeling when you get terrible news but all the time. I always have negative thoughts and can't sleep for longer then 2 hours at a time,iwake up and think about negative shit and what I havent become..on top of that I have extremely vivid dreams so even when i wake up im still tired. i forgot to mention it takes me hours to fall asleep. Im miserable all the time..thank god i have friends that understand. @7Suave I know you didnt ask me but I just felt like i kinda had to explain how I feel. it can help me..

It takes about 3 seconds for everyone to realize that this must be a “hail to the king” track. I love the vibe of this song, as I did with every song on that record. Just a great song, my fiancee passed away last May and A7X was one of his fav bands and he loved "The Rev'. I listened to this song after he passed away and have so many times since. It somehow fits me losing him :( ADDICTION IS REAL!!!

You definitely should check Dream Theater. You'll enjoy songs about real-life stories like The Count of Tuscany and A Nightmare to Remember. Scenes from a Memory is a fascinating concept album with a great history, one of the best concept albums of all time. Images and Words is also a great album to start with. Dream Theater is one of A7X biggest influences.

I've been with A7X since I was about 13... I'm 34 now, I didn't really think about it until now. Wow, I'm getting old. To old to recall certain things I loved and lived as a kid. (When I felt free) free from so much that I didn't think as a kid would hold so much pressure over me as a adult. I guess things change, I don't know if that's good or bad, this (though it's good) probably won't help me through what I have to emotionally face from my past. It's a beautiful song, I just hope some of you understand what it's trying to say.
