Contrary to what others may say, this is my favorite of the Avengers. The opening battle scene was the best intro of the franchise. With the introduction of the twins and Hawkeye's (Clint) family, it just gave more of that human element. It is so emotional when Quicksilver (Pietro, Peter) sacrifices himself to save Clint and the boy, then at the last they show Clint's new baby boy's name with Pietro as his middle name.

marvel were insane to force joss whedon out after this. this right here is the high point of the mcu, being such a great film while setting up so much to be paid off down the line. there's very little setup in anything following _age of ultron_ and so after everything here has been paid off the mcu just falls flat.

It’s just so cheesy. It feels just like Whedon’s Justice League. It even has the same dumb gag of landing face first in a woman’s chest. I would’ve liked to see what different writers and a different director could have done with this plot. The Weekend of Ultron didn’t really feel all that threatening, and the very humanized version of Ultron lacked weight of finality and inevitability that his classic robotic nature held in previous versions.

I've always liked this one more than the first because it was darker and felt more mature. I was in awe of Elizabeth Olsen when I first saw this. Been a big fan of her since in and out of Marvel. She's never needed her sister's name and legacy to carry her.

Vision, is the guy your wondering about. And her name's Wanda. And when he was created, it was because Thor used his hammer to imbue Vision with energy...essentially bringing him to life... I like to think that when Vision glances at Thor, then creates his own cape, that that was Vision saying thanks. 😊

There is a very big and interesting connection between Vision and Thor in that scene and the rest of the movie... When Thor energizes the cradle and Vis pops out, you can see that Vis in his confused state did a quick assessment of the group and he immediately when for Thor as the greatest threat there or the one to get pass in order to "flee" or be safe... And after he calms down and creates his own cape, clearly to resemble and honor Thor, which shows respect and even admiration (maybe he has already searched things about Thor in his mind), he then knows the exact way to make everybody there trust him, which is thru Thor's authority: He picks up the Hammer to show everybody that if Thor vouches for him and that he can pick up the hammer, which is the symbol of Thor's powers and status, then everybody in there would accept and follow Thor's judgement... And after that there is a short scene, and I think there was actually a longer deleted scene, of Vis talking to Thor and no one else; we don't know what they talk about but we can guess that it has everything to do with Vis trying to learn and understand Thor's worldview and universal knowledge... apart from the scenes of them fighting side by side

One of the most underrated Marvel films of all time. It sets up so many future storylines and James Spader as Ultron is hilarious and menacing at the same time. Joss Whedon did a fantastic job with this film and so did all the actors! The one thing I hated is how they killed Pietro with a freaking bullet! 😐

Some points often missed: - Clint Barton's baby video. His onesy had his name on it "Nathanial Pietro Barton". Nathanial for Natasha, and Pietro for Wanda's brother Pietro. - Thanos created & activated the A.I. He was monitoring the entire thing through Ultron's perspective. Loki was plan A for Thanos - Failed. Ultron was Plan B for Thanos - also Failed. That's when Thanon said "Fine, I'll do it myself" - Tony gets the blame for creating Ultron, but he only gave the A.I. the name and personality. - NOT REALLY EXPLAINED WELL IN THE MOVIE - Tony's Ultron network was based off of Tony's mental engrams. When the A.I. absorbed Tony's Ultron network it absorbed his engrams - hence the similar personality to Tony Stark.

Everyone talks about josh brolin and thanos, but james spader KILLED the ultron role!! The immature,snarky personality that ultron has because his programming pretty much IS tony stark lol. Thats why ultron is soo damn funny and witty for a A.I. he is tony stark in robot form, all his genius and quirks, flaws, one liners, and slick dialogue is all stark without the most important part...his humanity..ultron is stark in robo form.... back to spader tho, the way he captures the stark cocky personality without coming off like a imatation is a feat by itself.. his line delivery is simply just perfect for what ultron is supposed to be..he literally had more one liners than RDJ in this movie lol.. when they were shooting this movie, spader had to wear a taped meter stick on the back of his mouth cap suit with a tennis ball stuck to the end of the yard stick so the actors knew where ultrons eyeline was supposed to be. Then spader had a interview describing how awkward it was to shoot his scenes and all his scene partners are looking up at this tennis ball taped to a stick 3 feet above his head while interacting with (ultron) and how distracting it was to more or less have a conversation with everyone talking PAST or above him since ultron is over 8 ft tall lol.

Here are some Avengers age of Ultron facts. Veronica is a reference to Archie comic books. Veronica was the traveling armory that could be deployed from space anywhere across the world. Tony did not develop the Veronica protocol Bruce did well also building a hulkbuster armor to stop himself. The only advancement Tony plays into the Veronica protocol was so that the hulkbuster armor would fit over his regular iron Man suit and its limbs could be replace if damaged. Loki's scepter contains the mind Stone but it was given to him by Thanos. Thanos gave Loki the scepter knowing the gamma radiation coming off the infinity stone would influence Loki's rage which caused loki to attack New York. In the comic books Natasha withdrawn to Steve because of her desire to be known as a hero but the MCU Natasha sees herself as a monster so she was drawn to Bruce instead with Natasha being Steve's most trusted Ally. This movie shows why Clint Barton is the bravest avenger. The maximum twins in the comic books we're mutant like the X-Men but in the MCU Pietro maximoff is a mutate not mutant. Then his sister Wanda maximoff being something more that will be explored in a later MCU project.

Mentioning that Ultron did have a good participation, it should have made him a more reckless and genocidal genius with his objectives that would advance but placing him more in his power than what was seen with Thanos, but what is captivating is that they show what he is like. Both this movie and Days oif Future Past came out the same year and Marvel and Fox struck a deal that they were allowed to share the characters Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver (not the Flash) for one movie. But after that, Fox kept Quicksilver and Marvel kept Scarlett Witch. If you watch some deleted scenes from Days of Future Past, you'll see a very very young Scarlett Witch sitting with her brother. I think that's pretty cool. I wish they did it with more characters. Makes things interesting. I loved the banter and competitiveness between Hawkeye and Quicksilver in this one. Hawkeye's so witty in these movies and definitely comes out in this one too. So glad you're loving these movies, Kristen.... hope you keep loving them. :)

I just thought of another big way Marvel could bring in some extra money. Have comics come out detailing big events that happen between the movies and shows. That’s something I’d love to see like the Avengers between 1-2 all the adventures they had hunting down the scepter and showing them come more like a family.

quicksilver is 175mph speed according to the creator, but they boosted him because of the DC character the flash that can run much faster, but yea, Quicksilver is normally running what a sport car can max.....

Quicksilvers speed was amped up WAAAAAY past sports car speed. I believe he was in the "speed of sound" kind of level last I heard (that was in the late 1990's for me). Still way slower than the Flash

The publisher accidentally wrote “the speed of light” instead of “the speed of sound” because he was WAY WAY off on the speed that he could run and that made that version of Quicksilver able to canonically run at the exact same speed as The Flash making him possibly the only version of Quicksilver that can reach speeds that high. Cool right?

At the time, both the characters of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were in a weird limbo of rights where they could be used in the Fox X-Men movies and the MCU. I don't know the details but I think an agreement was reached as Quiksilver had already shown up in Days of Future Past (though using Peter, not the other spelling). Wanda gets a little Easter egg like appearance, but that's it. And the MCU introduced them as twins, and didn't hang on to Quiksilver and focused on Wanda.

Quicksilver was already a character in the X-Men movies so I'm guessing they didn't want to keep him in the MCU to avoid confusion. In the comics he's a recurring character in both X-Men and the Avengers since they're in the some universe.

Disney did not own the rights to mutants at the time this movie was made. 20th Century Fox owned the rights. That's why all X-Men movies were done by Fox Studios. They are still Marvel characters, so that is why you still see the Marvel name in the X-Men movie intros. A deal was made between Disney and Fox to use the characters for this movie. To my understanding, they would only be able to use one of the characters going forward though. That's why Quicksilver was killed off. This movie was released in 2015. The Disney purchase of Fox Entertainment properties (and with that, any Marvel properties that Fox owned the rights to) was completed in 2019.
