This would also explain why Dr. Strange did not stop Starlord from having a grieving tantrum and ruining the plan to remove the Gauntlet from Thanos in IW. If Thanos lost the gauntlet and didn't snap, he would have simply invaded Earth with his superior forces and the Earth may have been doomed. Thanos and all his forces NEEDED to be defeated with the full gauntlet... by Stark.
