This is the most *important* line of dialogue explaining time travel in the film. The Professor Hulk time-dialogue was written by and speaks for the Quantum Physicists in the film. Understand the above, and you will get the film's time travel.... If you don't...... A forum discussant writes: "It would not be the same time as when he took it." Yes.... *It would be that exactly.* The logic of time in that reality would be that the stone was taken and returned [instantaneously]..... *DEFINED* -> "the point of time now present or present with reference to some action or event." It does not matter if in an *alternate reality* you take the stones *TO* the stones are gone for 1 minute, 1 year, or.....1 billion years. [does not cause 1 microsecond to pass in the reality where you took the stones *FROM* ] This is what you need to understand about time. Time within a reality is relative. [reality - relative the two words express same concept] Time in different realities is independent. Given the possibility of travel between realities time is *chaotic.* [this is what Scott conveys about the Quantum Realm] If you can control the chaos - then you have - *a multiverse time machine.* Hope his helps.

The battle wasn't pointless, it was a repercussion; The Avengers were on the defense. However, because they decided to return the stones to their origin points, it doesn't matter when they are returned or how long the stones stay in the "future." They could go all the way to the end of time, as long as they eventually make it back to the point in the timeline where they were taken. They didn't need to return them to their origin points then, they just needed to keep them under their control, away from Thanos. The _tactically_ prudent move would be to complete the contract by returning the stones, but not necessary for the timeline continuity. But all this in itself is a misnomer of how they themselves state time works... if your past must become your future, then the stones can never be returned to the timeline that they were removed from, because time travel isn't possible, just parallel movement between different timelines which are out of sync. Time always moves forward, as it is the byproduct of the expansion of the universe (maybe). However infinite parallel timelines exist, where everything is exactly the same, just a few (or more than a few) moments, ahead or behind (because multiverse). Reality is a leaf on a stream. If we can figure out how to pick it up and move it (not likely because we are stuck inside of it) backwards on the stream, it probably would not follow the same exact path it had before, and even if it did, the "water molecules" it is moving on would be wholly different.

I think Endgame explained Time Travel quite well. It needed to use Time Travel as a plot device so they had to use it in a way that makes sense and in that regard the movie did a good job. Although still theoretical (i guess, coz lets face it time travel exists in the future then it exists now and existed in the past too), there are multiple theories on Time Travel and Endgame happens to use the theory that is not that commonly used in movies. But then again Endgame was not about Time Travel. It was about the climactic final battle all along, which they spectacularly got it spot-on. So naturally Endgame will obviously never be a good time travel movie on the levels of the gems of the genre like Primer and Dark (TV Series).

I feel the Avengers rush against time itself is much more evident in Infinity War in their effort to beat Thanos before he collected all six stones (which they lost, obviously); so therefore, there really wasn’t a need to redo that in Endgame. However, the time travel concept was needed in order to “avenge” what happened and that’s why The Russo Bros and M&M wrote it in (and I’m sure KF pushed them to do so also). Tusmoove K: I was literally looking for a comment like yours. The only possible explanation is that the intervention of Marty and Doc in the timeline occurred after Biff gave the almanac to his younger self, which means that Biff would arrive back in 2015 in a timeline similar to the one he left. But this seems shaky somehow. In the first Back to the Future movie, Marty's reappearance in 1985 should have found him in a totally different circumstance than Doc having been shot by the Libyan terrorists. Traveling from 1985 to 1955 and giving Doc his own future research on time travel should have meant that Doc actually built his time machine years before 1985. Doc's entire life after 1955 should have been different. The only way Doc could have still ended up in that mall parking lot would have been for Marty to specifically explain every single detail of how it happened and for Doc to execute it all the same way (even to the point of Doc going through the motions of explaining the DeLorean and how it worked to Marty), which Doc probably would have done to preserve the timeline. But for Doc overall, keeping the discipline to not build the DeLorean for 30 years would be quite a challenge.
@jaskaran08jsjs4 жыл бұрын
There is a plot hole in back to the future. In the end Marty comes back to the future before he went to the past and sees himself going to the past. Marty checks on doc and move on. But what about the other Marty that went back. He experiences the same things again and comes back to the exact moment we see at the end of movie and that Marty sees himself going back to the past. Marty is stuck in the loop. I don’t know if I have expressed myself properly but Marty is stuck in a time loop.

All of this is based on the thought that we know what time actually is... if time is a universal fact than time started moment of the big bang. Since we don't know the exact moment the universe was created we raally dont know how to reference what date to go back to... therefore you would first need to make a device that starts capturing "time" so you have a reference point at which you can go back to. Or go back to any point after the device was turned on.

I agree - Back to the Future is a much better time travel story, because it more accurately represents how butterfly effects work in the field of time. The idea of multiple timelines is a cute fantasy with no connection to our lives. But butterfly effects are real. Your actions influence the future, and once something is set in motion it ripples forward, so choose your actions wisely. That's why Back to the Future is pure genius. The science of butterfly effects is something we all can apply and observe in our lives.

@TitanicTruths4 жыл бұрын
@@summertyme5748 no, not really. The whole premise of the multiverse is that every option given has played out. For some realities, they have no yet reached those options presented in another reality. So when they went to the 2012 battle of NYC, it wasnt an alternate past. It was an alternate present. In their original "timeline" (reality) they never lost the tesseract, but their alternate 2012 reality faces the options of what would happen if they had. The whole premise of the multiverse itself. Cap putting the stones back really serves no major purpose outside of the individual realities from which they were taken. If changing the past doesnt change the future, then putting the stones back wouldnt restore the timelines. To "clip the branches", you literally have to go back to the exact point but do things differently (giving instead of taking), thereby changing the past. Which according to the films own logic would not change the future. So they would still have split timelines if true time travel was implemented. But, by accessing the multiverse, those paradoxes are no longer a inevitable certainty. IE, they did not time travel, they travels through the multiverse.

@@TitanicTruths re: no, not really. Yes, exactly. Multiverse time travel is a theory in physics. It's not made up by the MCU they just follow it. It's time travel *because it is rooted in the past* - it is multiverse because traveling back to the past creates an alternate reality. It's not just another reality - it is one based on the past hence.... "So when they went to the 2012 battle of NYC, it wasnt an alternate past. It was an alternate present..." ⬆️ Based on the past- in which by definition everything that happened in your past prior to 2012 is the same....not similar, not a copy, but the same. Again, what Erik misses is that in BTTF 1 - there is a single timeline. *This doesn't work.* Then in BTTF 2 they changed it to multiple timelines: *Like Endgame.* So BTTF is trapped in contradiction like Terminator and X-Men because the original time travel idea - doesn't hold water, and the sequels then screw up the original. lol Note: The word *timeline* is never spoken in BTTF. Then in BTTF 2: Doc Brown: "Prior to this point in time... (He points to 1985) ...somewhere in the past, the *timeline* skewed into this tangent, creating an alternate 1985" 🤣 If Erik were A) Honest and B) Smart He would accept that this answers the question of which film *gets it right.*

The Doc wasn't his best friend. He was his father figure. It was really common for kids that age who were smart to want to hang out with grown-ups they respected more than their own parents. Parents were absent most of the time. This was after the golden years where people had lots of opportunities. In the 80s you were kind of stuck with what you got and you just had to work hard to keep it. It wasn't as bad as it is nowadays, but definitely, it had nothing to do with the '50s, where Americans were floating in money. He was a dreamer and needed to believe he could accomplish what he wanted in life. The Doc was the proof of all that so that's why he felt attracted. It was more of a father and son relationship.

Everyone always talks about the time travel, and how messy it is.. But can we take a second to appreciate that Bruce invented immortality! He literally turned Scott back into a child, and then a baby. Scott also had all of his memories and personality during each phase. (Except as a baby? We didn't get much interaction there.) Bruce flowing time through Scott, turned back the clock on his biological aging. Bruce literally discovered a way for people to live forever.

@@summertyme5748 How about instead of just saying "NO!!!" you actually explain your thought process. Why do you feel that Bruce didn't invent immortality? He literally de-aged Scott. He turned back his biological clock to a previous time, thus "healing" him of aging. Essentially granting a form of immortality. (Obviously the process would have to be repeated every few decades, but the premise still stands.) So, again.. Instead of just saying "No he didn't" why don't you explain WHY you think he didn't. You also say that people "just don't get it" coming off as if you think you're smarter than everyone else and that YOU get it, and yet you refuse to explain your reasoning.

If you paid attention to the film, you *saw* why it is dangerous. This scene goes over the heads of Erik whose limited intellect fails to process the logical difference between sending time thru people and people thru time. This is also a great example of why Endgame is *vastly superior* to BTTF. to be continued....
@summertyme57484 жыл бұрын
*Sending time thru people does not make you immortal. It ERASES your existence. And here is why.* Time travel is 'nomally sending the person back in time'. Think about what this means. -> The person moves forwards in time. -> The universe moves backwards. -> The traveler is unaffected. -> But the Universe has been erased. It's 'future' does not exist yet. Because it has not happened. That's what the time travel is. You would never suggest that the people in the past are immortal. Ridiculous. They have no knowledge or awareness of the future - only you do, because you *have not* regressed in time. You kept moving foward. So you are the only one who remembers the future. You understand this right? Good, now lets examine what happens *logically* when you *reverse* this process...

Butterfly effect time travel makes more sense factually though... we can't prove a multiverse. But we can prove a infinitely big universe which we can't even see. If a universe is infinitely big... why would we need carbon copy universes with multiple you's. When we would have greater options without alternate versions of ourselves or alternate universes. Another thing? How would we traverse from one universe to a other by going back in time? Time is just space that is condensed to make it "appear" to "go by" faster. Condensing or stretching space "space manipulation" is the only believable way to time travel... which we still can't manipulate space OR Travel outside of it "to a alternate universe". It's called the mirror dimension and if you remember - he *tried this* in Infinity War. Most of the fan fictions people want to be 'strategy' in Infinity War and Endgame *do not work, and were shown not to work* but again this film is at post high school level, you have to pay attention.
