Honestly, they seem to be targeting two different markets. One is for someone who wants a commuter style bike, but wants to play on the trails. The other I believe is marketed to someone who wants to get into more hard-core mountain biking, but not completely sure yet and wants to get their feet wet. Kind of difficult to really compare the two. All the same. Thank you for doing it.

If you’re really wanting a mountain bike, the Aventon makes more sense. The mid drive alone sets it apart. The Velotric is a commuter with a mountain bike look. JMO.

Nah, The price difference can be used to upgrade parts and make the Velotric far superior…I’ll take the hub drive over a useless broken mid drive or broken chain..😂

If I could have bought the Ramblas for $2399, I would have pulled the trigger - but it's now $2899 with the new tariffs. I found a youtuber that gave me a $300 discount code for the Summit, so at $1699 (with current price of$1999) I went with that. Get the bike next week - hope I made a good decision.

Just note that the Summit is not really an emtb. Instead, its a super fun bike for the city but it is not my first (or even second choice) to put on the mtb trails. Can it survive them? Yeah, but its not what I consider to a be true emtb like the Ramblas. With that said, the Summit is my everyday bike. I leave it at home if I am hitting single track (unless I am doing a video with it).

I went with the summit with the intention to upgrade for more trail use and I like to tinker, so far I’m at 2050.00 total after I purchased the Bomber Z2 forks. It I s night and day difference. Now it’s way better for trails and still have the speed for pavement gravel as well!

I also got Bomber forks but I am waiting to do the head to head trail test before I add the new forks. If it would only stop raining long enough for the trails to dry out!

Did you make any changes to the brakes and drivetrain?

@@richarde1355not at the moment don’t feel the need to. Eventually I may upgrade the group set but the one that comes in the bike pairs well with the hub motor I never feel the need to have more gears. The brakes work really well and no additional brackets are needed to fit them on the new forks I have. Majority of my use is technical single track with some drops and jumps, bike handles it great now.

Scott I have the Summit 1 and have both the rack and fenders installed. No issues on the bike the only downside is that you have to remove the back tire to add the rack, the rack was an easy install. The fit was very good.

Hi Scott, The correct rack has a the side bolts fit on the inside of each of side of the frame and after you remove the tire and pull the 2 plastic plugs on the fender you bolt through the fender and there is an unusual bracket that connects the front of the rack and the fender bolt under the seat a very unusual mounting set up for the rack

@@mrc1436 Yes. I am fully aware how to properly install the fenders and the rack. I even did a video of doing but I never posted it because the rack that was in the Summit 1 Rear Rack box did not fit at all. It wasn't an installation issue. I now believe that they put the wrong rack in the box when they sent it. I'm just happy this was just and isolated incident and they are sending out the correct rack now.

This video HITS THE SPOT I have researched for weeks and finally scratched the Tero 3.0 from the list due to shortcomings @ motor. I feel like I want the Summit, but will outgrow it if I keep getting into more aggressive Single track. The fact I want to driven with my daughter and take it to work makes the summit make sense... anyone else in this conundrum?

Got the Summit yesterday (discounted to a $1699 price). First impressions are it's a decent overall bike for the price, BUT it's really poor at climbing steep long hills - even at the highest pedal assist (Boost at level 5). It almost seems like the hill kicks the motor into a low power mode - and it will stay there for a while even after it flattens out. To me, the primary purpose of an eMTB is to help you get up a hill. Hate to say it, but I think it's going back to Velotric

Sorry to hear that, although, it's not an actual emtb. They market it as one but it's more of a city bike that can handle a single track. In my eyes, the Ramblas is real emtb.

One of the advantages of the mid drive motor is being able to have and easily change out different wheels. The Velotric would be an awesome hybrid commuter/mountain bike, but for each different use different tires would be more appropriate. Having an extra set of wheels with different tires would be awesome. The Velotric hub causes a problem. Likewise with fixing a flat. Replacing a rear tube on the Aventon is much easier than on the Velotric. Lastly. tubeless options. A lot easier and less expensive to convert the mid drive (Ramblas) bike to a tubeless setup.

The Ramblas has power! Love it! Its also a great communter. Ima say the city range is 40-60miles using all modes. If ya use man power and eco mode, you easliy got 70 miles range. 8.5/10

I've seen where people have gotten 90+ miles out of this bike on a single charge. The range is crazy!

Depends on what you plan on using it for. In my opinion, if it mountain biking all the time, maybe the Ramblas but if it's more weekly riding with mountain biking on the weekends, you may be right.
