I understand why graphic designers might prefer the Vogue cover but it really frustrates me how so many graphic designers never seem to acknowledge accessibility needs. When I find it leaking onto websites and apps, it's a sign of a designer who hasn't understood their entire audience. I'm glad your design example at the end is already on the path to being accessible.

I really wanted to get the point where you at right now. You can easily recognize any design and say something about it. Although I am teaching graphics design, I still have more design knowledge to take in to be able to tell which is which on a design and/or good versus bad. I am really thankful to follow you since 2020 when I'm bored during the pandemic.
@SatoriGraphics5 ай бұрын
Hey no worries. It's just a case of having a passion for design, and giving things time to gain more experience. It boils down to simple things like does the visual language appeal to the right audience, and does the design achieve the brief goals.

I love your content. But as a designer for a tech startup with academics as customers, I’d love to see more content that touches on using specific brand colors with very clean modern design that isn’t anything like editorial design. I usually cannot use special colors to draw attention, or play around with highly stylized imagery to help build the design. In short, my everyday projects are nothing like the examples you discuss. It is much harder to do design well when you are limited in color use, font use, and a brand “look” that is established. And for customers that would be turned off by highly stylized designs. My content is sometimes created to draw attention to sales or a specific feature, etc, but most of the time, I need to create content that is educational or that contains a lot of text. The products we sell cost a lot of money and the customer wants to learn about the capabilities for a while before they commit to purchasing. But I want this content to have style and professionalism as well. So I’d love to see more videos that cover design in more of a tech business setting. Product sheets, while papers, use cases, spec sheets, and website and ads of course too. Thank you!

Love your videos. Your examples & style tends to lean very modern. I’m wondering if you can make a video of more vintage designs where these same principles are expressed effectively. I usually deal with brands that are more traditional vintage/nostalgia based and these examples don’t communicate the cozy warmth I need to communicate in their values.

The premise of the video is fantastic, but I am concerned with your choice of sponsor. In an age where us as artists are at risk of losing our work to AI, especially corporate artists like UX/UI Designers, Graphic Designers, Etc, I feel like the use of an AI tool made to fully generate a design is very very thin ice. These images are only possible due to millions of pieces of stolen artwork. As a visual artist, its absolutely something that would make me quit a job if I was expected to use something like this. These tools are built from theft. They are trained with artwork that we create, and manufactured to produce soulless recreations that the average person loves because they lack the eye for craftmenship. Graphic Designers are the most easily replaceable in this shift towards AI, freelancers are already reaching the point where they can't compete on their usual platforms due to the influx of cheaper AI designs. UX/UI Designers too. I'm lucky I'm in Illustration where I'm valued as a craftsman, but corporate designers do not have that luxury.

Agree 100% with you.If all graphic designers refused to use these IA programs, we'd have a chance to keep our jobs in the future.

Sir i replied in previous video “I have watched your graphic design principles playlist, but I am confused about how to apply those principles in my design when I start designing
@SolipsisPassport5 ай бұрын
Collect the pieces of your design, ie the text copy, the images, any required logos or design elements. Make a list of the principles of design you know you want to apply, ie rule of thirds, contrast, line, etc. Arrange your project pieces in the work space to follow your design principles. Last rule, know when to break the rules if it makes the design stronger (skip this step until you know how to do the first three properly without needing to think about it). I am a graphic designer and taught graphic design for a university some years ago. Best of luck to you.

@SatoriGraphics5 ай бұрын
Hi there Solipsis gave a great response. But I'd like to add that it really does come down to giving yourself time to gain more experience, and having a real passion for design. The more you look critically at existing designs and try to see where principles have been used and why, the easier it becomes to use them on your projects in accordance to briefs.

Idk if it’s ethical to promote AI at this time man, especially as a designer
@SatoriGraphics5 ай бұрын
Ai is being used by the top design agencies, and most graphic designers. It shouldn't be used to create finished designs, but it helps speed up the design process, create mockups or visualisations for clients, and so on. It's a tool, and every tool has a time and a place. Just my opinion. There is absolutely no way to go back now, the tech is out of the bag and in full bloom. Adapt and pivot, or get left behind.

Extremely disappointed at the sponsorship of AI generation in this video. You were one of the people I highly looked up to that inspired me to change my career and start pursuing graphic design - and you've started encouraging people to use a tool that bastardizes art and mashes together stolen work from millions of real, human artists out there? I'd wager that some of YOUR work is in that database as well, as stealing from creators is what made it even possible to generate such designs in the first place... It's really disappointing.
