Avery Brooks actually made a quite a good Klingon - interesting that the energy of his performance came from his anger at having to wear the fake teeth and makeup!

Tng holds a very special place in my heart. I will always love it. Both shows have their 'deep' episodes with good writing, but Avery brooks doesn't get enough credit as one of the great captains. Also Ds9 has many episodes that outclass tng's best. imo ofc.

those are often "filler" episodes when they can't think of any good story episodes to advance the storyline. They are usually the worst episodes of the series, TNG had a few episodes like that where the crew is "trapped" somewhere and have to get out, it's kind of dumb but it's a good way to pad the season when the writers need a little bit of a break or just want to have fun (fun for the writers, NOT the actors).

It's whatis missing from modern trek, as it's usually those episodes that allow the supporting ensemble to stretch their acting chops, and very often they give their characters some flesh and development.

Actually I thought Sisko made a pretty good Klingon. But that Move Along Home episode. Yeah, I think the playing it up for laughs thing was taken too far.

That's funny that he says that cause it's one of the few episodes the wife & I will skip over when we watch the series, that's how bad it is.

Avery Brooks = greatest captain of all time. He mentions "Far Beyond The Stars" frequently, but he never mentions skin color or race. He always mentions the beauty of seeing the cast play characters that "look like us" (the actual cast as they normally look in real life, without alien make-up/prosthetics)... ...while people like Ira Steven Behr (who was the one who came up with the concept of an episode about racism for Black History Month of that year; the fact that February used to be a Sweeps month that determined viewership, which determined advertising prices for network & syndicated shows was merely a pure coincidence 🙄🤣) always push the "1st Black Captain (which isn't accurate cuz Paul Winfield as Capt Terrell in ST:II + Madge Sinclair as Capt of the Saratoga in ST:IV were the 1st black captains in Star Trek) SJW narrative cuz they know it's a way to get free advertising/coverage from left-wing media journalists.

I so agree Move Along Home is my least favorite lol. I intentionally bypass that episode every time lol 🤣🤣

"Move Along Home" was a weak and uninspired episode. I don't get how it got past the pitch stage: "so we have these aliens that love to play games, and the game pieces somehow link to our heroes and transport them into this maze-like thing that they have to solve, while outside the alien gamers keep playing. And somehow it's all related though we won't even try to explain it, and Quark will think he'll kill our heroes if he makes the wrong move but that's just a red herring." The rotten cherry on this crap sundae of an episode was the allamaraine hopscotch sequence. No wonder Avery Brooks hated it. Still, "Move Along Home" has nothing on Voyager's "Threshold"!
