I got this watch as a gift and it’s beautiful. I’m sure that there are imperfections to an avid watch enthusiast, but it is gorgeous and the overall vibe for most people is one of high quality. I would never dive with a luxury watch. They make very capable divers for under $200. I have a Sharktide that survived a backpacking trip to Europe in ‘07 and it has some battle marks but works flawlessly in ‘22. Anyway, for what it’s worth, this watch will impress most people. Also, I don’t think I’m the type to ever spend the amount of money it takes to obtain a high end Swiss (Rolex, Omega, Tudor), so the amount of watch I’m getting with the Seastar 1000 is pretty ideal for my price range.

I don’t have the date window issue. It sits exactly in the Center without showing the neighbouring dates. It is a really great watch for that price! Similar to the Oris Aquis at about a third of the price. 😊

I just got a seastar from eBay for 280 GBP.... I got the blue face with chrono dials and date at four o'clock. I'm delighted with it

My reason for not buying a Seastar 1000 is the existence of the Seastar 2000 Professional. I needed no further reason to NOT buy a Seaster 1000. The Seastar 2000 is specced out like a Planet Ocean for less than 1/4 the price and it looks incredible with its chaotic wave pattern etched into the gradient dial. The Seastar 1000 is a dive-style watch but the Seastar 2000 is a dive watch, period. I knew that I only had eyes for the 2000 the second I saw it and I love it.

I've had mine for around ten years, maybe more. The date window is at 3-O'clock. It has been flawless.

I can never see a date window even with glasses and the Sun rarely shines here in Wales so never needed AR so that;s 2 issues out of the way for me .Haven't bought a watch since Aug 2021 tho so guess I've cured my addiction lol

There is no option for double sided anti reflective crystal. I’ve never seen it on any Tissot. Very few companies offer this at this price point. If you are looking for this, might I suggest SWC (Swiss Watch Company) micro brand watches. Most of their watches are double sided AR and done extremely well! The rubber strap on the Tissot is nice. I’ll give them that.

Seems like the $550 Tissot Seastar 1000 chrono is a better deal. Not sure what the differences are. Also, I just like chronos. Makes for a more interesting watch face.

Certina is definitely better option. Seastar looks good on the first sight, gkod specs, but they have ot of flaws.

I have small wrists and had a look at the 36mm seastar quartz with the intent of purchasing. It was too blingy for me, a far cry from the oris diver 65 and longines heritage diver both 36mm.

Honestly, these seem like minor niggles to me. The polished cutouts are probably there to make the case look visually slimmer. The same way wearing vertical stripes makes you look taller and more slender.

Productive review but slightly miss leading in that you need a loop or magnifying glass to actually notice the date creep which appears much more noticeable in this video than it actually is, at least with mine. In every day use the average owner would never notice it. Though I do agree at $500.00+/- it really shouldn't exist no matter how hard you have to look for it. That malady should not be a deal breaker for anyone without a loop in their eye however. With respect to the band easily scratching; that's true but no more so than a $10,000+ Rolex Sub band without the shiny surface.

I actually noticed the date without a loop. I would never represent a watch for what a loop alone would see, otherwise I would be roasting every watch for a piece of dust, scratched index, slight smear in lettering or other crazy things you’d never see without. Good point on the AR coating. Totally agree. The really should address that. For some reason, my watch has a different band . . . maybe they changed it since this review? I think you exaggerated about the lume. The lume is not great, but it is perfectly adequate. HOWEVER . . . WGAF about the cutouts??? I mean, really. WGAF? They should link that part of this review to the dictionary definition of "petty." And there's no date misalignment on mine. Maybe I just got lucky? So . . . I give your Five Reasons a 2 out of 5, giving you the benefit of the doubt on the band.

Just came across this video and completely agree. I had the silicium model with these problems. The scratches i could live with but that date misalignment drove me bonkers. I tried so hard to love that watch but just couldn't take my eyes off the date. If it wasn't round or it was the same colour as the dial i dont think it would of been so noticeable. It seems that this is a common issue with the seastar 1000. The watch kept excellent time + 3 seconds a day but i had to sell it in the end. 😢
