You know the instrument was born in Italy to perform folk music, then was used for classical and only much later it was adapted for American music, right?
@UsnRoberts11 ай бұрын
@@nyko921 This is how you do it: The mandolin evolved in the 18th century in Italy and Germany from the 16th-century mandora. Interestly enough, The growing population of Prussia and the independent German states during the time outstripped the available land. Industrialization could not provide decent-paying jobs, and political rights were limited. Dissatisfied with the lack of land and opportunity, many Germans left and came to America. Settling in the "German triangle". A key area of settlement was Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

I'm so happy that I found this on youtube. My grandfather used to play mandolin, both for his friends and later just for his pleasure. I used to stay around and just admire his skill, without saying a word. When he fell ill, it was one of the last little escapes he had, playing his old mandolin. He tried a few times to teach me, but I didn't feel like I had a chance. I was such a silly kid... I miss those days. Luckily, I still have the instrument, maybe one day I will find the right moment to take some classes.

@purple-flowers4 жыл бұрын
For the layman: the mandolin is tuned the same way as the violin; G D A E, it also has the same basic fingering as the violin(however the mandolin is fretted and the violin is not). The largest difference is that with a mandolin you use a plectrum while the violin is bowed. This largely changes how the instrument is played. However, as a whole the mandolin is basically the same as the violin on paper, and as such you can practically use the same music for the the two instruments.
