I whistle like that, but I've never seen anyone else do it! It's a combination of the lower teeth, upper lip and tongue. To listen though, you'd never know the difference!

i like how he had that sweet smile while whistling effortlessly when i can barely even whistle. Avi's voice is also so full and even as a bass he has such an amazing range and can hit "high" notes (for a bass, such as D4-G4). I really enjoyed his work with Pentatonix and I'm glad he was able to make music on his own all of his work is fantastic I admire Avi so much

I’m a REALLY good whistler, and even I don’t have the slightest clue how he whistles with his mouth open like that. I can whistle like a Disney movie through my lips, AND through the gap in my teeth both inhaling and exhaling, and this man somehow still blows my mind

But his wistle is exactly one of the whistles my mom taught me (she can wistle in every possible way lol) and the way I do it, is I put the sides of the tongue on the roof of my mouth and i blow air through the gap somewhat behind the front teeth, lips are not needed at all, well you can use them to change the sound a bit like i think he does to fill the sound with more wisperi* air. Hope you learn it!

This was streamed from a studio in downtown Nashville TN. There were technical difficulties right before he was scheduled to go on so they did a patch job. This is part of a fundraiser he did for his A Cappella Academy students scholarship and travel money. It had been promoted and had to go on. He successfully raised the money needed so despite the poor video it was a success.
