Thanks, I thought the same thing. The David Clark I bought second hand, so making this actually doubled as an operational check to make sure it worked. I was pleased at saving some $$.

When I first started flying in the mid 80s I had top DC headset but when I quit flying like an idiot I sold them. I recently started experimenting with flight simulation and considering to start back doing some actual flying....I could kick myself for selling them. DC headsets are incredible with such excellent quality of audio and transmission and extremely durable!

If your PC only has a single 1/8" plug where or how do you plug the audio and mic 1/8" plugs?

If that’s the small standard 3.5mm like ALMOST everything has, that’s where the adaptor comes in; in addition to providing power to the headset.

@@ayushgiri1759 it depends, you can go for inexpensive ones for about $80-100 all the way to about $1200. I bought my DC’s for real world use.

What are your impressions of the sound output of the Stereo David Clarks? I'm sure it's not high end, but does it have good frequency range like a decent over the ear set for audio?
@FlightBrothersFT4 жыл бұрын
To be honest, for Flight Sim I use the external speakers for audio. I was looking for some to use in the real world, and Clark’s are most, if not all American made. I haven’t had the opportunity to use these in the real cockpit yet.
@FlightBrothersFT4 жыл бұрын
Also to note, because I don’t remember if it’s in the video, the Clark’s are the heaviest and most robust construction of the three. You get the individual (L and R) volume controls. I used the Telex, the lightest, most frequently but they lack an individual volume control. You’re left relying on your game audio output, or in the real world, your audio output panel. Sorry, I should have included that in the first reply. I also scored the DC lightly used for $200

Thanks for the video. I just want to be able to talk to my co-pilot in a sim environment. What intercom device will work with these headphones in voice-over or VOX? Thanks!
@FlightBrothersFT7 ай бұрын
Not sure how these would work, but if you’re running another p2p voice program, they’d probably work fine. If you’re really world through and intercom, they’d probably also work well.

Hi, I have a question, can you hear yourself talking like in a real aircraft
@FlightBrothersFT13 күн бұрын
Not really, it sounds like you’re wearing headphones. There is no “side tone”.
@PiotrBarcz3 жыл бұрын
I like how the Telex (or whatever the hell it's called) has the classic tight sound from the microphone, very authentic. The Dave Clark is much more like a conventional headset with a better mic, but it still sounds nice! Does the mic have a noise stopping function like it has on a plane to filter out annoying engine noise? Or is that the effect from the radios in the plane? Because I noticed that even if you do a humming noise the mic will shut up and not transmit until you start talking.
@FlightBrothersFT3 жыл бұрын
As far as I’m aware they have the passive noise cancelling mics, but I think it’s more of a directional microphone as you could tell in the video. I’m not sure if audio panels in aircraft can be purchased with a noise reduction feature or if they leave it to the headset manufacturers to sort out. There may be a certain volume that it needs in order to drive the microphone, but I don’t have a clear answer on the last piece. Used the way I did, the mics are hot all the time, so some noise will come back through, so headsets or a lower volume may be desired.

Great video . exactly what I was looking for . I have a question for you my Son gave me a very nice headset D\C single plug It is so comfortable Id love to get it working in DCS and X-plane will this adapter work on this Headset ? I'm not sure what model this headset is but it is a headset used by the USAF and like I said before it is a single plug. Thanks in advance and keep up the good work .
@FlightBrothersFT5 жыл бұрын
Ben Sullivan this adapter only works for the dual, GA headset. Sounds like yours is different, typically the single plugs are for helo. You may be able to get a single to dual adapter, in which case this should work for you then.

With the adapter shown, any two plug Aviation headset should work. Some of these may be priced around $100 US. As mentioned in the video, you need the two plug; the Airbus and Helicopter plugs WILL NOT work. If you are in the US you might look at Sportys or mypilotstore. We have no affiliation, but we’ve bought many products from them over the years. We hope this helps!

@@karthikk6512 we do not have cockpits since we frequently jump between types of aircraft. If you are looking for realistic function, though, again, we have no affiliation or experience with their products, realsimgear.com looks to be a good choice.
