Makes you wonder why they even put engines on these things, just adds so much more that can go wrong.

One more very important safety feature of the biplane: if your seatbelt fails during negative Gs you will not hurt your neck hitting the cockpit ceiling. Enclosed cockpits are inherently dangerous.

Your right about being safer. 4/14/93 near Colfax, Wa. the Ag Cat I was flying gave up all nine lives to save mine. I was hit from behind by a Navy A6-e Intruder. Thanks for sharing all your wisdom about aircrafts, it has opened my eyes to the fine details we don't think about!?! Thankyou

Beautiful Great Lakes Biplane. I was a pilot once. Lost the medical when my flight surgeon found out I was a cancer survivor. They don't like survivors for some reason.
@ronrogers Жыл бұрын
You might revisit that. I know of cancer survivors who have a medical.

It needs another horizontal stabilizer and elevator. Then it will truly be a biplane.

Ron... you skipped two important safety features on the 1-winger! First, with 6 fuel tanks, the fuel gets so confused it doesn't know where to go. So you can never run out! You also forgot to mention the extra propeller on the ceiling of the hangar. That generates small amounts of lift that accumulate on the aircraft, making it fly better.

What a beautiful airplane. I really like how the left-hand side appears to be a mirror image of the right-hand side.

Extra wings? It'll never catch on.
@aviatortrucker628510 ай бұрын
The only thing I remember, is, the aileron is usually on the upper or lower wing. If the upper or lower wing becomes damaged, then the lower wing is useless, as far as keeping the aircraft level and stable, unless it is done so with one aileron on the opposite side. However, it is one of the most beautiful aircraft I’ve ever seen probably a pleasure to fly.

Flying acro in the open cockpit of a Lakes makes you pay WAY more attention to the way you put the 'chute on and then fasten the Hooker harness.... especially that lap belt. A good rule of thumb is to check the lap restraint half a dozen times prior to taxi, then another half a dozen as part of your CIGARSSSSSS checks during run-up. Those extra S's? Seat belts. Seat belts. Seat belts? Yup, check, seat belts. You wanna check a dozen times I'm not going to fault you. Nothing, repeat nothing gets your attention quicker than your ass moving *at all* during that first inverted check. Btw I've always thought the flying wires were for slicing geese, thereby preserving the leading edges of the wings.

That was a very interesting and amusing presentation. However, you should’ve shown the instrumentation in the one winger because I’m sure a lot of people would love like to see the TV screens in there, so you can watch movies and KZbin while you fly. By the way, when I learned how to fly about the time, you started, your T 37 career, I learned all the different instruments in the airplane right away. One of the first things I learned was RPM, which stood for the name of the manufacturer who made tachometers. I had a chance also to meet Mr. Hobbs, which was the guy that made those cool looking odometers, but unfortunately, he told me never had time for anything.

a few mistakes my friend the aileron cables are on the bottom wing push pull to top if bottom cable brake you are screwed no 2 the strength is based on the whole structure all the wires need to be fixed to its neighbor if bottom or top fails you are also screwed not safer than mono so why are the so scarce
@ronrogers Жыл бұрын
Yes of course, and many more issues. But the point was satire.
@seamuscashin2606 Жыл бұрын
hi ron im inspired. flying along in my biplane the top wings have long gone, along with that lovely set of flying wires but thank god the landing wires are still on so im singing a happy song. now you could always invert and land/ now where did i see this lately bonjoir tolouse. now thats satire and bad spelling /
@GennaroAvolio Жыл бұрын
You forgot about visibility. The wings are always in the way.
@ronrogers Жыл бұрын
Yes, that is true, but being an aerobatic and highly maneuverable aircraft, a quick wing dip clears the area.
