In this video I am showing you my Prepar3D settings, some Prepar3D.cfg tweaks, my AMD settings, and finally my Active Sky for Prepar3D V4 settings. Please note: just because these settings work for me, does not necessarily mean they will work for you! It really depends on the configuration of your own system!

Make sure you check whether these entries already exist in your Prepar3D.cfg or not! If so, just change the value. If not, just enter the item under the right tab!
How to find Prepar3D.cfg:
It should be located here: C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4 or simply type %appdata% in the Windows search bar and browse to the right folder.

Some common affinity mask settings for quad-cores with hyperthreading ON (this will give you 8 logical processors as shown in the video):
84, 85, 116, 254 or 255
Just experiment with these!
PLEASE NOTE: in the video I incorrectly told you that the first number of the binary code codes for Core 0 and the second for Core 1 etc. Actually it's the other way around! The first number of the binary code codes for Core 7, the second for Core 6 etc.

I would just like to thank you for this video. I followed everything you did with one or two things I went a bit stronger on and my simulator is now running like it has a new PC and video card. I had very bad stuttering and couldn't use Dynamic Lighting at all. I'm now getting between 60 - 30 FPS even with very heavy ASv4 weather. I can't thank you enough. I have also been spending many hours watching your vatsim videos trying to get myself ready for the next big step of flying online. OMG you litterlly have to try Native VR in Xplane 11 with the HTC Vive, its going to completley blow your mind, the days of screen flying are slowly coming to an end, i promise you that if you did a full flight in VR with atc and all, you wont be able to ever fly on a screen again, its really something else i kidd you not.... and vr implementation in xp11 is the best thing ive seen in a long time...

Great tips really helped even the Affinity Mask. But I would suggest people to also adjust their Active Sky Next if the FPS drops in Heavy Weather. Specially the "Suppress Local Weather" Setting should be on if you have low FPS.

Thanks for the tips, I'll give them a try. You know I have a lot more of a system cpu, gpu and memory than you are running, and I find nothing but problems people and myself have running this Orbx software. I have a ton of Orbx stuff and I have gotten to the point of do I really want to put it on. So your tweaks are new in regards to the scenery and terrain ones, so I will try them thanks for your video.

Hi Aviation LTNC. Compliments for your smoothness. Some tweaks however are outdated. Affinity-mask was fun to work with but I personally didn't experience any change. However I'm missing the most important setting, the only one I use, the FFTF setting. This is in my opinion the only tweak that really makes the difference. To bad you use a AMD Gpu because a view months ago a guy came up with a 'new' setting that also made me frown, but it worked. I now run 8xSGSS (NV-inspector) and my Gtx-1060 eats it like breakfast. Anyway, I wish you all the best and stay safe up there. P.s. Begin mei ga ik de Full-motion Sim in Lelystad weer bezoeken. Ik hoop weer wat nieuwe dingen van de instructeur te leren en te oefenen. Blurries are unfortunately very common in Prepar3D, even if you apply these kind of tweaks. It depends on your system as well!

Reflash the vBIOS. The miner you bought the 1080ti from undervalued the cpu and changed the memory timings to reduce power draw. Option2: Removed the GPU heat-sink assembly and make sure it's really a 1080ti. *Or have you already solved the problem?* If so, what did you do?

p3d's framerate is still largely dependent on single thread performance of the CPU, and His 6700k @ 4.6Ghz has better ST performance than your 2700x. Latencies of the CPU can have some impact too (6700k has better latencies as well).

hey aviation pro, I have about the same specs as you with 16gb ram and an intel i7 processor but i linger around 16-20 fps in the pmdg 737 I run fsx steam and this tweak guide hasn't helped me for all i know, is there anything I can do?

FSX Steam is definitely not the same as P3D. P3D is a whole lot more optimized and modern, so there's your problem ;). Maybe consider switching or wait for FS2020 and see what that's like.

The Affinity Mask=85 Tweak is an old FSX one and means.. 4 Core CPU and HT Enabled. You may get a better Result if you set the HT to disabled and set the Affinity Mask =84. I Use a Ryzen 5 1600x so i dont Need this Tweak in P3D. I also use a Zotac 1050ti OC up to 1800 Mhz. That´s not bad but 4 Gb Ram is the Minimum. My Framerates are between 40-50 FPS on Ground up to the Airport. PMDG Aircrafts are working fine also i use Ultimate Traffic Live , Passenger Aircrafts are at 100%. Gen Aviation are disabled. My Problem is the dynamic Lighning at Night, that Drops my FPS massiv under 20 FPS. So i have to find out how to manage this. :-)

A 1.80 GHz laptop is too weak to run Prepar3D. Check the specifications on their website so you can see what kind of PC or laptop you need.

Those settings will NOT give you 8 logical processors. You still only have one single processor with 4 logical cores. Hyperthreading on the other hand simply gives two threads per core. So, if you have a 3.8Ghz core, it is still only processing the same amount of data at the same speed. It only helps in some application. Prepar3D is not one of them. If you have hyperthreading off, and P3D is using 60% or more of you CPU, turning on hyperthreading will not help you in any application of game. It may even hinder math functions and cause games to crash.

20 fps??? I shoot for 60 smooth. The big drivers are traffic, followed by the VC of the aircraft you are flying. There is NO excuse for developers to make fancy VC's that are low on frames. All other settings make very little difference anymore with P3Dv4 especially with the autogen draw distance setting (been wanting this for years), with that, autogen can be extremely dense when you land but dissappears at far distances, perfect--so with that setting autogen no longer has a significant affect on frames. The remainder of the frame problems are miniscule compared to the aircraft you are flying and how much traffic you have. I fly with only a few addon aircraft I trust to get good frames (look at what paradigm shift Majestic has achieved! over especially fps hogs like PMDG), and I usually fly with 10-20% traffic to achieve solid 60 FPS everywhere. And I'm using a 5 year old 2 core (better for fsx at the time) 4.0ghz OC processor with a gtx1060---nothing uber powerful. NO I do not fly shit like PMDG that sucks FPS to it's knees. Its not necessary to model everything on an airplane when it has no impact other than frame rates on the processor. What do I care if there is a cabin heat control? I'm not getting hot at my desk lol. EDIT: the scenery complexity slider will bring your system to its knees as some (a lot) airports have frame rate inefficiency beyond the "dense" setting. So I disagree with the video on setting it beyond dense--ymmv.

You really should get PTA, or some of the free alternatives like Obenshade or Tomato Salats PTA. A decent PTA Presets and HDR Lightning on... Oh my you will never ever want to fly without it and you will ask you self" how in hell could i lived so long without it" :D The thing what you probably don't like on HDR is the luminance adaption effect, when you look up to the sun everything gets dark etc. well sounds great but it is bugged in P3D when you me ask. It is way too slow and sometimes you have to move your Head/camera down that the brightness change. This effect effect you can turn off with PTA. I use btw. Obenshade github.com/LB767/OpenShade it works also with PTA2 Presets, and from these your find a lot on the net.

No problem, Saturation has i think the most impact from the HDR Settings, too much Saturation and you have a cartoonish like Cockpit, but if you fine tune all the settings to your liking then HDR is great.

I hate my prepar3v3 Its the lousy menu settings...limited missions.... the dark shading...airplane lighting dim on wings...even the planes airspeed is slower at takeoff. No imagining that ! "Fsx" has poor frame rates but such better menus and user friendliness.IMO

Stupid fanboy , Xplane is so fucking non optimised that's almost impossible to use it without removing some shadows , or by reducing on weather. Exept if you have a real master race no one can do it , majority of Xplane users use lua scripts to reduce the LOD to improve performances, try again nigga

Ok this simulator has literally been out for a year. I've used FSX/P3D for 11 years and I can honestly say it is worth the switch to XP11. Flight Dynamics, realism, and the future of this sim in terms of payware have completely sold me. I mean you really want to land on flat earthers' runways the rest of your life go ahead xD

Cheapskates? Some of us bought the PMDG 777, 737, 747, QW757, FSLA320... and all those scenery addons over the years. So your point goes completely out the window. And you must be kidding if you think X-plane simmers won't be willing to buy future payware aircraft or scenery as we already are. I see why you may want to stick with FSX in terms of the investment side, but trust me you are going to miss out on a more realistic experience especially if you're an avid simmer.
