I totally agree with Alvin Kingsway. We cant stop the sale of birds. Most in US are bred in captivity. There will always be neglected birds needing a home. Sanctuaries are often finding they have to turn birds away because they are so full. I rescued 2, but if someone does want to buy from a breeder just make sure you are ready to care for a bird. Not become annoyed when it acts like a parrot. They are noisy, messy, can bite and probably will at some point. Bird people don't mind. Not everyone is a bird person and parrots live a very long time. So, this person is right. There will always birds to adopt. This harness is a way to safety teach a bird to return to you and give them good exercise. A healthy flyer has less upper respitory problems according to our vet.

I got my aviator set a few weeks ago, haven't used the flight line yet, just getting my young grey used to the harness (which is waaaay better than the clunky one i got from the breeder!) can't wait to take him out - at the minute we're just going for short walks around the house and yard. cool!

we adopted 3 rescue birds they cannot be rehabitated to the wild so we will only ever adopt. To the people with the comments about birds should only be in the wild, i agree, but people need to take care of the abandoned birds that are everywhere. so before you put such hateful negative comments, find out where these birds came from and perhaps you should consider adopting to help reduce the sale of new birds in stores and from breeders.

This really is the safest altnerative allowing a bird natural flight without any harnesses or tethered restrictions which birds are NOT used to having around them. And can cause much more stress to your fid then any good coming from those devices.

@TreyRust for those less experienced, free flight may be risky and dangrous and esepcially if there are predators or busy cars like in the city. why would anyone not want to practice with this first?

Folks the best way and i've been in the field for 30yrs now. To safely allow your birds outside time. Is to house them in a large enclosed avairy. This way they are protected from the elements, predators, and escaping. I also strongly suggest placing down some sort of fake grass matting that can be removed and cleaned when necessary from droppings and food etc...This will keep them out of the dirt and grass that may get them into trouble by ingesting something toxic they shouldn't.

People don't just use the harness for flying some use it as a safe way to walk outside with their bird. Or training in hopes to let them to free fly. Not everyone has the space to build an aviary. And lecturing about that wont help anyone either, most people already have a parrot who are responding. They arent going to dump their birds because they dont have the space. I get what your saying, but it isn't taking in different circumstances. I am actually going to take your advice we have 32 acres! Too bad there arent large spaces made so people could safetly fly them. Like paying at one of those batting ranges, but a flying range.
