I think it’s a great improvement from the original design, but it does seem a bit thick to me. Maybe it’s just me, but bulk could’ve been cut by not having a coin tray because who really needs that anyways🤷🏻‍♂️?

I got it and using it for a month now and I love it. The coin tray and pull tap are the things that made me buy it. Only the pull tap has that black metal tap at the end, and the black coating is allready showing some wear.

@@j.cut_ Quite a lot of countries use coins that are easily useable unlike US (yes, im assuming youre from US, sorry :D ). Where I live, we have coins worth over 2$, I could probably put coins worth around 10$ in that coin tray, which with our prices for food, would potentially get me through a normal day. Or double the coins with their bigger coin tray (for extra 10€ cost)

I recently got one of these. The cutout window is smaller and hides the elastic. I added some elastic lengthways that goes behind and over the cutout so I can either put stuff in the cutout and/or on the face, for example a keycard that doesn’t need to be protected from RF. I do of course lose the ability to slide the top card out but the pull tab works really well anyway. I got the deeper tray which I’m really glad I did because I can fit all kinds of stuff in it.

Thanks for the detailed review. I was researching wallets for months, and couldn't bring myself to buy the ridge wallet that I wanted (damascus). There were some issues I saw with usability and durability. So I ended up getting 2 wallets from etsy...and this one about 2 days later in Metallic Black after watching the reviews. I got that same model but with the aluminum coin tray and inner plate. I ended up taking the pull strap out since I can thumb the cards up. It makes it basically the same as the original without the issue of the coin tray sliding out as well.

The fact that you can hold coins and hold up to 20 cards and the fact that it's not made in China made my choice to choose this wallet over every other wallet. Including the Ridge Wallet the Ridge Wallet is cool but if I'm gonna pay $75 dollars. I want to hold the max amount of cards and have an option to hold coins for Travel.

Really cool wallet, thanks for the detailed review. Just purchased one. What I noticed though is that they gave you the wrong top plate - the pull strap should actually not be visible when assembled. For some reason they assembled yours with the top plate from the classic version instead of the new “slide” version, which actually has a smaller window that covers the strap. [EDIT] Oh wait, I just realised that was actually how the design looked back then. Looks like they fixed that sometime after your review. So that's pretty good.

Long overdue, but I finally pulled the trigger on the Aviator Slide. I went all out with the carbon fiber model, carbon fiber clip, slim aluminum coin holder, and aluminum space frame for RFID protection. Beware though of long shipping delays out of Germany due to COVID-19 impact on flights to the U.S. My order sat at Deutsche Post for 2-weeks, and it finally is moving in the system. Good things come to those who wait.

I just got it and I was excited but I was disappointed. It feels super light and delicate I feel like I'm going to bend to aluminum when I open the wallet and if I drop it it's gonna leave a mark for damn sure. The black will always show scratches more than the silver titanium. But both will scratch easily if you put them in a pocket with something metal such as keys.

This one is tough to beat even still today. The Ridge design doesn’t change, only the materials so I’d still choose this over a Ridge. But both are a great choice.

I think it matters how the configuration arrives to you. I believe the same adjustable plate comes no matter what do you can adjust it later. They do it for you so you don’t need to take it apart when it arrives.

@@ChrispyThings I don't think the carbon fiber one would have durability issues. Aluminum is not as strong as most people think. Yes its rigid but drop it onto concrete and it will dent or scratch easily. Really any metal with the exception of maybe titanium but even titanium will will dent if abused hard enough. Ive had a carbon fiber one for a couple years now and never had a single scratch on it!

These wallets are trying to reinvent the wheel. They’re awkward af, gimmicky and heavier than normal wallets. Getting single bills out of money straps and clips is so cumbersome, you have to take all the bills out and sort through them - same with cards, there’s no window sleeve for you to put your ID, you can only carry a few coins at once or none at all and fumbling around with cards at registers or card scanners at train stations is such a time suck if you’re in a hurry. They’re not convenient at all.

Here’s the problem with that. Reinventing the wheel is almost impossible because a wheel is a wheel. How do you improve on it? Reinventing a wallet is different. Wallets have readily been big, bulky pocket bricks that while someone is carrying it they feel the need to stuff everything in it like an organizer. Coins. Receipts. Cash. Cards. Parking tickets. Your dog. You name it. Modern wallets are absolutely improving on a tired old invention with innovation and force you to slim down.

Everything you covered in the vid was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I was just on the Aviator website trying to decide. The Ridge was my first option, after buying and being thoroughly disappointed by the Grip6, but then found the Aviator. The Ridge had the size and sexy going on but functionality seemed lacking. The Aviator pretty much solves all the problems most of these minimalist wallets have. Another cool thing you addressed was an issue I emailed Aviator on just today. They have 2 versions of the cash strap on their site with one being like your review model and a newer one with the strap going around the plate instead of through. Now you can tri-fold your cash but it doesn’t look nearly as good. Function over form in this case. “Point” is ;-) I now know exactly what to get and why thanks to your vid. Thanks! Edit: I was wrong. After going back to the website it is now obvious the cash strap going through the plate is for the pull strap models only. The others use the wrap around style. My bad.

@@ronin3635 I realize there are a lot out there, but most I find are leather bifold style wallets. I prefer the stacked card design, rather than separating out into 2 or 4 pockets. What do you carry?

I’d usually agree with you but this is completely different than a Ridge. The only thing that’s similar is it’s rectangular card shape. That’s about it.
