The Aviator Wallet is a compact (albeit thick) customizable card-sized wallet designed to carry anywhere from 1-20 credit cards, folded cash and small items like coins or flat keys all in a very sleek, stylish metal/carbon fiber form factor.

The Aviator Wallet's main claim to fame is probably its very dense, compact nature - at almost exactly the dimensions of a credit or ID card, this is probably the smallest 2-dimensional footprint you can reasonably achieve in any practical EDC wallet (albeit at the expense of thickness), its high degree of customisability (besides several different base materials you can also customise various parts of the wallet as well as the adjust (post purchase) the card carrying capacity of the wallet) and its ability to (with the optional coin tray) carry coins or other small objects in addition to cash and cards.
On the other hand, a couple of the areas for improvement include some degree of friction in certain interactions, particularly around accessing cards in the middle of a thick stack or getting money in and out of the money clip, the fact that this is a very thiccc boy when filled with lots of cards, and finally, the coin tray's carrying capacity may be less - and the noisiness greater - than one may be expecting when purchasing this wallet.
Nonetheless, due to its dense compact form factor, stylish design and high degree of customizability the Aviator wallet is an interesting choice for anyone looking for a sleek semi-minimalist and compact wallet for every day card carry with a little extra flexibility.

Al principio cuando vi la duración del video pensé "qué tanto tendrá que hablar" pero ahora me doy cuenta que es extremadamente objetivo, ha analizado cada detalle y sinceramente ha sido un placer escucharlo. Muchas gracias.

I've got this wallet and love it. it's a great front pocket wallet. He's right about the use. I limit myself to a few cards and id. I don't usually pay with cash, so it's there just in case. If you put the bill in the coin tray on top of the coins, there's no noise. Also you're better off without the cash strap clip. It makes it harder to use instead of easier. I've had the carbon fiber version for a while and it still looks like new. The metal ones are cheaper, but I was a little concerned about having the paint wear off and the metal possibly scratching something else in my pocket.

This is a very in-depth review. I agree with most of the comment you made which still deter me from getting this wallet

@@TheMountainborn My latest collection is Lionwings Saber Wallet. It could hold cards, cash, and coins / key with a hidden inner compartment. The cavity space is small, so it does not fit much but it gets the job done for me. It is a well crafted metal based wallet that does not rely on elastic band with unique accessory as an option (bottle opener, window breaker, etc) It has a rail guard design to keep the card locked in.

@@TheMountainborn yep i did! One question if you can answer; if put in the same pocket with a phone is it possible the aviator wallet to scratch the phone.?if you had any experience of this issue….
@TheMountainborn

Hello again! Unfortunately yes, that is one of the disadvantages of this wallet - I think I briefly mentioned it in my review but being made of metal and fairly thick it could definitely potentially scratch any delicate items (including a phone) if it's in the same pocket or compartment as it and has some space to move around a bit. If you're looking for a low profile wallet to carry in the same pocket as a phone that won't damage it, I might suggest something like the Bellroy Apex wallet (my top choice and main wallet these days). The only disadvantage of the Apex wallet is that it doesn't have any capacity to carry coins or small things like keys etc. If you want a soft-sided, relatively low profile wallet that also can carry a few coins or keys, something like the RE:FORM RE:01 Coin Sleeve Wallet could be a good choice to consider as well (though slightly larger than the Aviator in terms of footprint). Anyway I hope this helps!

So happy to see your hands. Looking forward to a review of the Evergoods PLC20. I will say no more. On wallets: been very hard to find “the one” that does it all (holds cards, cash, coins, receipts. Don’t want anything exposed, like money). Dopp kits (for a not so minimal female), equally hard to find, and one that stands - not clamshell. Funny, a lot of companies use water-resistant materials, but fail to use aqua guard zippers, seal seems and leave gaps at ends. I don’t know why manufacturers would use two zippers as more opp for leaking, which everyone is trying to avoid. See ya next time.

Awww thank you so much! 🙌 And yes, the PLC20 will be coming up in a few weeks - so far I quite like it for what it is - sometimes a simpler, smaller bag can be a breath of fresh air in this carry game. (I do enjoy the front dump pocket a lot more than I thought I would, the internal front flap bifurcated zipper mesh pocket I found a bit annoying and hard to use, loved the overall size, enjoyed the material more than I thought I would (somehow manages to differentiate itself from Aer even though Aer pretty much have this look on lock down), found the top quick stash pocket smaller than ideal and love the new mesh material they have on the back panel and inner shoulder straps.) I hear you on dopp kits - I desperately wish for more innovation in this space but in general have found that most of the innovation tends to end with larger, heavier and somehow less useful (for me, personally) items... these days I more often than not am using the Matador Flatpack toiletry case and just throwing everything inside of there... it actually works far better than I originally thought it would and the ultra light weight and easy washability appeals to me (not to mention water proofness). So I guess in this too, sometimes the simplest solution (i.e. a plastic sack like the matador) can be the most refreshing? 😂

I guess it’s not a great wallet to use in Japan because of the frequent use of cash there. Thank you for your excellent review as usual. I recommend you to have a look at the Speed Wallet Mini by Frenchie Co. which has a better idea to take care of the notes.

What are your recommendation for similar type/style wallet but not as chunky?
@TheMountainborn
@TheMountainborn Жыл бұрын
Hi Alisha! I think the answer may depend partially on what you mean by similar style (is it the metal body? slide form factor? etc.) but I covered a few alternatives at the end of the video. My personal favorite wallet is the Bellroy Apex Wallet (shown in the "also consider" section) though depending on your perspective that may or may not be the same "style" of wallet. The Ridge Wallet is another commonly well regarded wallet in this same style - I covered a comparison of its pros/cons vs. the Aviator in the video I believe. Before I moved to the Bellroy Apex, I used (and enjoyed) the Ridge wallet for several years so I think that is also a good choice. I'm also testing the Ekster line of wallets which I think fit in the same general category. I would say all three are not as "chunky" with the Bellroy Apex being the least chunky and highest capacity and the Ekster being the most chunky due to the additional ejection mechanisms.
