@@brettpatetto6847 I would think SFO 25? L & R are so close it would be somewhat bothersome and EWR slope but from the N hook in or from South where it appears you’re going to land on the turnpike? I always thought it looked cool driving south when they were stacked coming in. I bet you like DFW! Talk about a beautiful runway layout!!! I see they’ve added and completely re figured ORD.

As a kid, I loved flying into National. As an adult, not so much. As I got older, I started wondering if the planes needed a tail hook. As I recall, pilots used to call the landings the “slam dunk”, when landing at National.

I'm a retired 747 pilot and I had to make an emergency landing at DCA because a passenger had an medial emergency I couldn't make it to BWI but runway 1 from Mt Vernon approach was the longest runway they had..as far as the passenger I found out later he was ok👍🏾In case other pilots want to know a 747 can land and take off from DCA using runway 19

Thanks! I get comments sometimes regarding lots of yoke movement. It's true - technique is caused by a drive by wire system which - while pretty good - doesn't provide much of a feel. Some planes you can fly using manual trim - HS 748 - others electric trim - ATR, SA 226 - I found on am Embraer little trim and fast corrections work best to achieve target of 700 ' / minute. Best planes for hand fly in my opinion are Boeing 737 and Q400

rvtsp1and2 Hey guys it was not windy. E Jets are fly by wire, feel is artificial and while not difficult to hand fly they do require a lot of small corrections. Trying to maintain 500 - 600 fpm even gentle nose down results in more and gentle nose up correction results in less than that. I might look nervous but I wasn't, just another landing. All modern airplanes are designed to be flown by the autopilot not so much to hand fly. Thanks for comments

Notice all the unnecessary work the CA is doing fighting back to neutral, instead of putting a correction in and then holding it. Pilot induced oscillation is an easy fix when one is aware of the bad habit.

Wow that approach gave me anxiety! Good work on the landing! What is that switch your left thumb kept hitting on the yoke? Looked like you or it was fighting you. Trim? What is it like to fly right along the border of restricted airspace? Any chance of going in by around a hundred feet or so accidentally?
@justincopeland533
@justincopeland533 6 жыл бұрын
Kdca is in restricted airspace, within 30nm requires special use airspace training and no vfr (visual flight rules) flying is aloud. Means you or the airline in this case files a flight plan ahead of time using already designated waypoints to let everyone know where you are going to be and when, any deviation from that plan would likely result in f16s coming to say hi
@junrenong8576
@junrenong8576 4 жыл бұрын
Justin Copeland CVFR using CVFP is allowed in a narrow corridor approaching runway 19, like the video is. However, its kind of like restricted VFR, which means while you’re using VFR, you have to also be aware of staying in the corridor (the river). Rwy 19 river approach requires a celling above 3000ft, and have to fullfill VFR flying condition.
