I have really come to love flying the P-51 in DCS. I think the added workload with flying these planes makes for a great deal more immersion. Plus, I generally fly much lower and thereby see more of the map detail, and with the new N2 map, this has been exponentially more rewarding for me than before. Thanks for linking Kermit's channel. It amazes me that the P-51 we have in DCS replicates the functionality of the actual airplane entirely. When he was walking through the start-up procedures, I was able to clearly follow and then concentrate on the added commentary of "why" he does certain steps, especially the checks immediately prior to takeoff. That said, his entire channel is a treasure for vintage airplane enthusiasts. Thanks all-around.

I love them, but I didn't plan on getting into warbirds in DCS until I heard Nick interviewed about the P-47 a while back. Then fired up the trainer and immediately got the Jug, Mustang, and 109 (the only one I'm decent in from other sims). Just flying the pattern in that bird was enough to hook me.

And I spent about 80% of my time flying for fun in Warbirds with friends, or by myself, but with Normandy 2, and all the potential campaigns that we’re going to see, some of those hopefully multiplayer, I’m really stoked about this new map, and the future of World War II in DCS world.

I've tested 4 or 5 of the warbirds as well as my P-51D Mustang. The P51 is the only one of them that I can get off the runway in. I have resigned myself to only fly the P51 as far as warbirds go. I refuse to spend any more time on any others. The P51 is the only one I need anyway. It's great bird. So, when I fly warbirds, which is occasionally, I fly the Mustang. Though I have a number of jets in my stable, I'm pretty much a straight up F-18 sim pilot. I love being on the ocean on a supercarrier doing carrier operations....the colors of a sunrise on the ocean, the rain across the deck and hitting my canopy.... the lights on the carrier deck on approach when trying to make a case 1 trap. Sometimes after folding up my wings and parking my jet to the side I have to get up and go out on the porch and just think about it all. Which is what I'm gonna do right now. Thanks for the vid.

I agree. I think I had to add a little bit of mush to my controls just to make a little smoother with the controls to keep it just right and most of the time when you’re getting flight path deflection it’s the Rutter first so add a little bit of Deadz on there, and maybe some curvature of about seven.

Very nice landing. For me it's like fingernails on a blackboard watching most KZbin pilots making their "forever" approaches at glide slopes that guarantee no chance of seeing the runway and would overheat most piston engined aircraft of that era. I respect your discipline waiting a few yrs to buy. I'm pretty sure I've paid several ED salaries with my impulsiveness 🤦 Miles program I think could be more rewarding. Better than bonus points but I still find it rare getting option to use them so I don't think they apply to everything in store. It says participating products. Also I checked my miles & can confirm the $AUD amount gets converted correctly, so that's great. I pick up a lot of campaigns which I think aren't always part, so I think that where I notice not using them. But I have a huge wrap on those so I'll take that as fair.

Yep. V/R isn't for me at this time. I enjoy my 2D and cockpit switches and perhaps when MR passthrough and greenscreen backing is better, I'll switch...but the capabilities aren't were they need to be for me to invest in it. I have friends that are on their third headset in an attempt to improve quality and it's still not there. Honestly, I'll be retired from DCS before it gets good enough to entice me.

Nicely done! Was the fuselage tank full? I've heard that you want to burn off that fuel first because it creates an aft CG that causes the aircraft to be more difficult to fly. I also missed hearing the backfiring that happens whenever you pull the throttle back all the way on landing. But, both the aircraft cockpit and scenery were amazing! For $10, I got to sit in the real Gunfighter many years ago and I took a bunch of reference pictures for a model I was building. I remember that right in front of you was the gunsight and a padded area that was stenciled "No Handhold".
